removing rear rotors

Wanting to install spacers but couldn't get the rear rotors removed to replace the studs, so I did a search on removing the rear rotors & found a old thread that stated "nothing is holding it on besides the caliper, just beat it off with a hammer". Before I start whailing on my car, I want to ask the question again. How do you remove the rear rotors from a 2006 FX45 (remember this is all wheel drive) if that makes a diff.
Thanks

When they say hammer they mean rubber mallet if you have a good one of those then beat away/ if you dont plan on using the rotor again then you could use a regular hammer, but that gets pretty loud lol

Place a reference mark on the rotor and hub before removing so you put it back in the same position to minimize rotor runout.

If you have tried the rubber mallet and it's still stuck on there, I place a 2x4 block of wood over the rotor and hit the wood with a sledge hammer. Start small and hit a bit harder, moving around the face of the rotor. If you hit metal to metal, I'd be careful about using the rotor without getting it inspected.

Definitely mark one hole and the hub so you install the rotor back on the same way, even though you are replacing the studs.

My rotors on my mazda was stuck pretty bad so i soaked it with WD-40 for good 10 mins and i started hammering away with a rubber mallet. I came off with minimal effort the second time around. I gave up after about 50 hits.

WD-40 worked wonders for me.
