I bought my FX with the factory cross bars added and I'm looking to remove them. That part is easy enough. My question though is, once I unscrew the bolts holding them in, what goes there to protect the roof rails? Is there some sort of cap that covers the holes? Anyone have a picture or a part number of what the inside edge of the rails are supposed to look like w/o crossbars on a 2nd gen? Thanks in advance!

There are plastic caps that come in the rails 73882-1BA1A expensive though $25.28 each list (*In Canada*)

unless your planning on selling the rails

That's exactly what I did. Just screwed them right back in and was done with it.

Thanks. I thought about just screwing them back in, but I was going to try to sell the bars on here and I didnt know if they were a part of the kit.

Those screws are part of the cross bar kit.
I also just screwed them back in when I removed the bars

You can get the screws from most hardware stores. So if you want to sell the rails, just get replacement screws. They're not special sizes or anything (unless the 2nd gen changed).

When i bought mine i could see there were steel bolts in before as there was some rust color stains around it but they were replaced by the previous owner to stainless steel.
Just a suggestion if you go for new bolts.

Take the factory screws to your local hardware store to match them up. Get some stainless steel ones
