Remote starter for fx's

There was a case where there was an issue with a QX and the dealership tried blame the remote start install on it. The master installer was able to provide proof that there is no way it caused it. The dealer couldn't say anything then. The installer was telling me he faxed over various diagrams and schematics that showed the proof.

You want to make sure you find a place and a solid installer that not only is awesome at the install, but also if the dealer were to blame something on it, they will back you up and provide proof on behalf of you with the dealer so the dealer doesn't pull a fast one on you if you were to run into some unique problem.

Yea the place is an authorize dealer and installer and so far my dealer hasnt given me any trouble so far for the stuff I've done to the fx

Don't do it!!!! I had a remote starter on my old 2006 FX45 that lasted me 3.5yrs before it fried my ECU. It was the exact same system the dealer used to install, but they stopped installing remote starters around the same time I got mine installed by a third party cuz they had to replace so many ECUs. It took 3 hrs to get my car out of the parking garage since the tow company couldn't bring in a flatbed. Supposedly, most dealers don't recommend an aftermarket remote starter on newer cars cuz it can mess with all of the electronics. It cost me $1200 to fix my car, and wasn't covered under warranty since they didn't install it themselves.

first time we are hearing this. I think the install place that was being used by the dealer was a bad installer or didn't know how to protect the wires. Depending on where the ecu is, how it's protected, etc, who knows what was causing it. I think I recall some people here mentioned that the ecu is on the passenger side and some dumb installers will put a whole in the firewall for sub installs and not plug it right so then water after time can get pin a fry it.

It's all in the installer my friend and my guess is that installer will not own up to their screw up.

Shoddy installs are usually the blame. Works great for a while then it stops working. The good ones solder all their connections instead of crimping. The latter can vibrate free after a while.

I can add that a few of us in Chicago have the Audiovox Carlink which can be controlled with a smartphone. It pretty nice and thanks to Chedman13 (Ed) for put us on to it.

I have a Viper Smart Start installed by the dealer (Infiniti of Manhassett). I can start my FX from my iPhone or my key fob by hitting lock 3 times. It seems to work pretty well.
