Remote starter/alarm installed

Shumby, how are you liking the text to start option? I think I remember reading in another post you do have a few issues with it (or that might have been someone else). If you discuss this in another thread I'll see about finding it and moving the discussion there. I'm really interested in having this installed but don't want to affect any of the cars existing functionality.

Text to start works great. only 1 small issue with functionality. when the remote starter is used and you have you seat set to the exit assist feature. what happens is the preset seat buttons do not work. now the seat will retract on exit. then when you start the car and get in you have to push the start putton once to ACC the seat will return to the last position it was in. you have to wait for it to stop moving to push the start button again and gain full control of the car or it will stop where it is at after you hit the start button the second time. So if you were the last person driving and say you wife then started the car with the remote or text. the seat would go back to your position and the memory button for her seat would not work. She would have to manually adjust the seat. this only happens when you start it with the starter. If you start it with the fob all things are normal. Small side note. when the alarm is set and the doors are locked you have to unlock the car with the remote not the fob. if you only do it with the fob it will set the alarm off when you open the door.

thats some real high tech stuff. i just got a viper 5902 installed for $500. works great too. I could also add that ipod software to start from where ever but its not really necessary for me. 1 mile is good enough.

1 mile in an open field. not going to happen in a mall or at a hockey rink or in an office. I do wish that the titan had an ipod app like the vipor has. it is cool

I am just about to pull the trigger on the 5902 as well. My only concern... how well it will end up working with my 50s. I think that the bypass for the FX35 will probably work, we'll see!

The SmartStart is nice Shumby, and it essentially negates having to have the special cell service you mentioned (although it's essentially the same thing just cheaper per year - 30 bucks for second year, first is free). I may add it on, but I'll see how the "1 mile" remote works out first. Really going to like being able to fire up the car in the hot Texas summer :)

Btw, how much did your 5902 install cost you Beast?

Hershey, was that installation labor only for 500 or the alarm AND installation for 500?

ha, its true, 1 mile is not accurate. best i can do is like 2-3 city blocks.

draco, i was charged $350 for the alarm and 150 for the installation ( they didn't know what they were getting themselves into so they had to honor that price). so 500 for everything which included the DEI Xpresskit module bypass. if anybody lives in nyc and wants to push for that price, contact USS Sound and Security on hillside ave in jamaica queens.

Thanks Hershy. Good to know. I was quoted like 1k by a reputable shop, and I figured that was pretty high ;)

I'll push for a lower price, but I definitely want to make sure I'm getting a top notch job. I'm assuming that the work done on your 09 35 would be essentially the same as the 2010 50.

Where can I get one? And how much did it cost?

Just got a titan starter/alarm installed with the optional text to start modual. It rocks. the FX will text me if the alarm goes off, if there is an intruder alert, and f the batt is low or has been disconnected. Can text to start it from anywhere with cell service. Heck i was just traveling back to work in Russia. and was spending the night in Korea I was asleep and then my phone work me up. It was an intruder alert. I was like cool this thing is neat. It turned out just to be the wife forgetting to disarm the alarm before opening the trunk. But I still thought it was cool.
