Remote start using factory key fob...NEW kit...

I gave them (Fortin) a call and asked about being to drive the vehicle away without the key inside the car. He did ask what car I had (FX) so I'm not sure if this applies to all Inifniti's with push button start or not, but mentioned that his notes/features indicate that the engine will turn off if the doors are not unlocked from the outside via the remote/door button. So if someone smashes a window to get in and opens the door from the inside, the engine will shut off.

The key would still be needed to unlock the steering column. Someone would not be able to drive off in the car being started by the remote starter

when car is started the steering column is unlocked automatically

Depending on the remote starter, they may differ slightly, with out the Ikey the car will just shut down. the oem remote start kit you need to press the brake at the start button to unlock the column. just starting the car does not unlock it

Ok fellas, so I did this install myself about a week ago, I gotta say.. I absolutely love having remote start, I cant believe I've gone this long without it.. Its badass. Ok, about the kit itself.. I gotta say, it was the first time I've ever done an install like this.. I promised myself if I was going to do it, I was going to take my time doing it. With that said, (dont laugh) I took 2 days to do it.

On day one, I removed the kick panels and the panel underneath the steering wheel, and by the grace of god, I used two very fine edged panel removers to pop out the start/stop button which saved me a ton of time with me NOT having to take apart the center console to get to the start/stop button.

I then installed the T-Harness, then I went out of town for a week for work, during that week, all the free time I had, I looked over the install guide, going over all the connections, one by one.. I get back home, and the next full day I had, again REALLY taking my time, I hardwired the connections that needed to be set prior to me programing the actual brain.

To sum it all up.. I got everything in, I knew I had all my connections right, with the help of my bud (I highly recommend having someone read out loud the programming instructions while you do the actual programming), I program it, go to start it up.. and she doesn't start (but she wanted to, it was close).. So I re-read the programming instructions and you really gotta follow it to a T, so I disconnected all the harnesses into the brain, and reprogrammed it following the instructions, the instructions will tell you when to plug the harnesses in, and she fired right up!

Its been good ever since. I absolutely love it. Now my girlfriend wants me to install a kit on her new Honda FIT.. (but mentally, this whole process was exhausting, lol)

Good job!! I also did install by myself on my '14 qx70s. Over 6 months and no issues and i use it most of the time. Installation was easy but take some time. No extra remotes and the range is good for my needs. Definitely recommend this unit

Open question regarding remote start experience. I have had a Viper for my 12FX35 and currently have the Fortin for my 13FX50. For both remote starts, I have on several occasion when I had the 12FX35 a battery drain situation. I thought is was related the FX35 but I just recently experienced it on the FX50. It happens when I turn off the car after driving but never get out the vehicle for at least 20min. The car electronics and head lights stay on and never go off when I finally get out of car. Car does not respond while battery drains and only way to to reset is disconnect battery before jump start.

The only way to remedy this that I know of is to open driver door then close after shutting off the vehicle.

Has this happened to anyones FX with remote start system?

Happened to me before once. I too have a remote start but i dont think it’s related to that. Its just not wise to sit in the car while it isn’t running but keep the headlights and music stay on. It will drain any cars battery. I stopped doing that and it never happened again and haven’t needed a new battery yet.
