Remote Engine Starter

I have a titan remote starter on my 09 fx50s. With the cell start options and alarm. Works great

There is also audiovox with Carlink or viper with smart start - both allow 2 way starting etc from cell phone. Score!

the alarm alerts are cool too. wife set off the alarm and I was in Korea and got a text that there was an intruder alert. lol. Called the wife ASAP back in Canada and she said everything was fine just opened the rear hatch with out turning off the alarm. Also alerts to low battery and battery disconnect.

what model remote start / alarm are you using? Does it say on the remote your battery voltage?

Just checked for the box but wife has used it to wrap some Xmas gifts. All I remember is it was a Titan starter and alarm. No the remote does not show the bat voltage though.

how much are you paying for the monthly/yearly service for the alerts?

i install a lot of them from the dealership, which ranges from $475 up to $995 for the one w/ the Viper smart phone app.... programmed right into the factory keys. yes its more from the dealership but we warranty it especially the electronics

FYI stealership told me last month the new JX coming in march will come with remote start from factory on factory keys. They should make all their cars like that.

I just purchased a 2014 QX70 back in November. Like the rest of you, I want a remote engine starter.
Probably unlike you, I didn't realize it didn't have one when I purchased it. I looked at the QX60 first which does,
but it was way to big for me. We then jumped right into he QX70. Same series and same year,
why would I think to ask? Plus even most manufacturers are making it standard in most of their cars now.

Can someone tell me what makes the 2014 QX60s Remote Engine Starter (which can be purchased separately
as an accessory off the Infiniti site) so proprietary that it can't be installed in the 2014 QX70.
I understand that a remote starter isn't one size fits all, you have to get one made to work in your car.
But, I'm finding it difficult to believe that they aren't using the same intelligent entry system and whatever else
the remote starter needs to interface with. And I realize how ignorant this all must make me sound. So, can any of you tell me what
is so different under the hood of these two cars that the OEM remote engine Starter that works in the QX60 wont in the QX70?

I've been searching the Internet for months trying to find the answer then, I found your forum today.
Thanks for y answers you might be able to give and for at least reading my long winded question. - Mike

Someone else probably has better details on it, but my guess is the factory add on needs a connection that is not on the QX70. The security system in the QX60 is probably an updated one from the QX70 (QX60 model since 2012 QX70 since 2009) They will probably include it in the next redesign of the QX70.

Car electronics more often than not are redone during redesigns, due to safety and cost reasoning.
