The 20" stock wheels on my 2004 FX35 Sport all have corrosion and lifted paint around the valve stems. I would like to get them powder coated but not sure how to get the best color match to the center caps. The powder paint supplier (allpowderpaints.com) has a hyper silver base coat that they recommend putting a tinted clear over, but they can't say whether or not it will match. They're saying that hyper silver varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Matching the center caps has been a problem for many people who powder coat wheels. I believe some have had to get them painted a few times to get it right. You can powder coat plastic, but most wheel shops and most coating shops won't do it. It's much harder to do than metal, it requires much more precision and lower heat. Also, the results sometimes aren't as good so it's just easier to paint. Since you can't electrically charge the plastic, it's much harder to get the powder to stick. And you can't heat it up as far as metal or it will melt.
