Rearview camera

My backup camera looks like something from early 1970's. Yes that's after I wipe lense clean. I don't have navigation. My question is does anyone else have very poor quality display with their non nav system?

Still very frustrated with the fact that I cannot upgrade stereo/display either factory or non factory options.

It's just the way it is. I have NAV but my camera still looks like a drawing. The 360* helps - in fact, is necessary in a car with visibility this bad - but the resolution is embarrassing. I wonder if an upgraded camera is possible, and if so, if the resolution with factory wiring/screen could be improved at all. Aftermarket rear view cameras are common and cheap these days, it should be easier on a car with something already in place. I doubt the screen is the weak link.

The camera should be brighter specially at night it sucks. I even put led bulbs to see if those help and that was pointless.

The camera in my wife's Crosstrek looks like its in HD, day and night; ours is a sad excuse comparatively speaking.

The camera quality itself in my '15 is no better than in my old '06 FX35. Only the 360* view and the overlay (turning path) are improved.
I wonder if it's the camera itself.. that could be relatively cheap and easy to swap out. I wouldn't bother with the front/sides, personally, but the rear would be nice.

grazie !!

I think someone here did on the gen 1
Me i replaced mine on a 2004 fx34 with one from a nissan altima dont remember what year it was it ha the same colored wires and connector
got it from ebay for 60 dollars new in oem box and it worked fine
the only difference the camera was a bit smaller and the holes on the fx bracket didn't match i just drilled new ones to attach the altima camera
and the rubber grommet that seals around the camera is so thick it compensates for the smaller camera
infiniti dealer wanted 800 dollars canadian for a new one

Did the quality of it improve over the stock one?

I'm intersting... I have a 09' with 360° but the rear camera it's not realy good.
I thinked resolv this with a tesla style screen ... good idea or not ?

maybe you will have to ask dose that installed the tesla style display check the tread about that system and ask them
mabe with that system you could instal an aftermarket HD camera

Maybe you guy's already know this, but just in case you don't, you can tune the rearview camera/screen picture with your screen controls......... I drove around for 2 years with a crappy rearview picture until I found this out! it's no HD but 10x better than what I had been looking at for the past 2 years
