Hi everyone,
The passenger side rear wheel bearing is bad on our FX, and I need to replace it. I called up the dealership and they said they do not sell a pre-assembled unit (bearing already pressed onto new hub). On RockAuto, Beck/Arnley is the only manufacturer that sells a preassembled unit. If I'm going aftermarket, I would prefer to go with Timken ($85). The only rear hub available there is made by Durago ($19). From the dealer, a hub is $240 and a bearing is $160, for a total of $400.
I guess what I'm asking is: Is my dealer correct, in that they don't sell a preassembled rear wheel bearing/hub? I found some on Ebay, but the listings aren't clear on what they fit. Apparently the newer G37s and FXs are available with a preassembled unit, but not the first gen cars.
Due to the hassle of removing the old bearing from the hub, I'm tempted to spend $20 on the new hub to make my life easier. Would you do the same?
