Rear view camera - replacement

While looking into the manual for instructions on how to replace the rear view camera, I came across this section:

I'm usually all about tearing into my vehicles, but the part that gets me is the "Cut off back door module" - WTF??? I'm suppose to cut into the car to get this non-working pos out?

I'm planning on probably creating a DIY, but I would hate to cut into my fx. Anyone replaced theirs before? Did you have to cut into it? Any help/info would be great.

That's an interesting way of removal. Hopefully someone can shed some light on it for you.

I like how it says "installation is the reverse of removal". So you just uncut that module back on after you get the parts back in. Easy=ysaE
