Rear lift gate not working

Hi - my 2010 FX35 has a manual tailgate that opens with a button on it. That button has stopped working. It will still unlock the doors, but the tailgate doesn't open. Any ideas?
 
Are you using the button underneathe the back lip, next to the backup cam/above the license plate, or the silver button on the right, front-side of the lip?

The one next to the cam. I set it up to unlock doors along with opening the tailgate. It unlocks, but that's it. There isn't the regular electric mechanism noise made when the gate opens either.

The silver button still works as normal.
