heya guys. i was thinking about heating the back seats for the winter and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a company to use. they all seem pretty similar as far as design, but, i'm not sure about quality or reliability. i'm also thinking i'd like to do separate switches as opposed to one element and switch for the whole back seat.

and............discuss!

are you planning to install heating inside the seat or just buy a product to put over the seat that has heat?

definitely why i'm looking into this.

one other thought - what am i getting into with thinking about messing with taking the back seat cushion(s) apart? over my head?

inside - like it's factory. not just a seat cover.

The actual heating element for the seats is pretty easy to install. However you would likely require professional upholstrey to put it back together. Where would you be putting the power switches? The only places I could think would be on the door panel or on the armrest...?

i still have to figure the switch part out... i was thinking maybe the back of the center console above the dvd player? the armrests or door panels wouldn't work i don't think because i'd want to put it next to the window switch and with the board there for the panel itself, there's no room.

also, i guess i'm going to have to call an upholsterer to see the price of redoing the seat before i get into this.

Back of the center console above the dvd player as you said, with factory seat heater switches.

Might not have enough room though.

It's actually not that hard to pull and reinstall the seat covers. If you pull the cusions out, you see on the back it's just held on by metal rings. They make pliers to remove those, then simply reverse the procedure and you're set. I've swapped out factory cloth seat covers for leather and it's tedious but by no means hard. There's not glue or anything like that.

That's pretty cool to have an aftermarket option. I wonder how hot the heater components get?
I wouldn't mind an option for aftermarket A/C vents in OEM seats.

I'm pretty sure the aftermarket ones get as hot as the oem if not hotter.
Don't you have to have perforated leather (little holes) seats in order to activate the cooling function?
I guess only 06+ fx's get the perforated seats

It would be pretty hard to get rear cooled seats since they normally just route vents to the seat. There's not enough room under the rear cushion.

For now I only want heating done on the rear seats.
I will have to reskin my front seats to perforated leather if I want to add cooling fans underneath them.
