Just got off the phone with Infiniti dealer and was quoted $350 for the hatch struts. I don't mind paying a premium for oem but this seems ridiculous. When I google around it seems that the struts have a special bracket that would be a pain to retrofit to any off the shelf struts.
When I looked at the diagram of the rear hatch and Google the part number it comes back as the same ones that the xterra uses. Seems like a lot of those guys have found aftermarket solutions, but they don't mention having to angle grind brackets off or anything.
Is there anyone making a aftermarket version that is cheaper and/or stronger then $350 oem struts?
It was wind last night and I almost got knocked unconscious by the hatch slamming on my head so I am very motivated to fix this.
