Raspberry Pi and FX

Being a computer geek just a little bit, I was wondering if anyone tried to hook up Raspberry Pi in their FX? If not, stay tuned, as I will attempt this very shortly. I am picking up new Raspberry Pi with casing at the end of the week. The plan that I have (and please, let me know if I am delirious) is to hook it up to the rear entertainment DVD system (I have one, check). I have a NavTV module (check) already installed, so I can project Raspberry Pi on to the Nav screen. I will use HDMI to RCA cable to stream from Raspberry Pi and use 12V power source in the middle armrest through the USB cable.
How does that sound? I don't know, but I will give a try...

BTW, all this was inspired by the following thread: https://www.infinitiscene.com/search/1/?q=21409-Play-virtually-anything-on-your-Nav-screen

Great idea, I have 2 rasberry pi's, but my car has no rear entertainment system. :disapointed:

The uses for these little units are so varied, I have used them for so many little fun projects.

Yes, without rear DVD system, you probably can still get it to work with stock NAV screen, its just going to be harder to hook up sound. I love that stock DVD sound goes through OEM speakers. What OS are you running on them? I run XBMC on the home one, but it will be quite useless (I think) in the car, so I am leaning towards Raspbian

I run XBMC via OpenElec on one and Raspbian on another. They both have their advantages.

Same Raspbian on one, XBMC on another.

I was running XBMC on both for the longest time just fiddling around with them. If I only had one I would use raspbian.

OK, got Raspberry Pi set up with XMBC (for right now). Got most of the parts for the trial fit in FX. Right now will test it with USB keyboard and mouse, but looking at some IR or BT dongles to hook up mini keyboard with track pad. Also will need some RCA L-bend connectors to hide HDMI to RCA cable out of rear passengers' way (i will be going through rear DVD system). Hopefully, if time (and wife :rotfl:) permitting, test fit it tomorrow, might even shoot a little video of it running in the car...
