Radio / Heater not responding

Hello all,
I'm new to this site, but have owned my 2005 AWD FX35 for a year and a half. I took it in about a month ago to have the dash replaced because of the bubbling problem. Everything seemed fine when I got it home, but about 2 weeks after getting it back, the radio and heater controls would just "freeze up". Both would continue to work ( CD plays and heater blows air ) but I can't change any settings. Steering wheel controls wont change anything either. I called the dealer, he said he's seen this happen in the G series cars, but not the FX. He said in the cars there is a circuit board in the dash that goes bad, and its about a $700 part. Of course he said the dash being replaced has nothing to do with my current problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry

I would call the dealer back who did the replacement and tell them everything was working fine until they replaced the dash. They could have forgot to reconnect a module or even damaged it in the process.

Is it permanently like that or just act up? If it's permanent then check the audio/mirror fuse in the drivers kick.. I blew mjne before and had no controls and the heater was on full blast.

I'll bet that the ribbon cable that connects the whole button panel is the problem, they may have not fully inserted it on reassembly & it worked loose, or they may have damaged it slightly and it held up for a while. really as far as I know this ribbon cable is the only thing that's common to both the radio and climate control function...

this is really something you can check yourself even, just need to pop the radio face plate off. if you just bring it to them they can claim anything else as the real problem, I'd suggest checking it first yourself this way if the cable is damaged you can go in knowing and telling them that you have discovered what they damaged.
