QX70 5.0 Intake & Exhaust Party!!!

OMG that guy was such a douche. He started so many arguments on here (I was part of most of them) and then took his aggravation to all of my youtube videos just because he thought his exhaust method was better. meanwhile his FX50 is SILENT at idle and low speeds, and you can only hear it if you're mashing the gas and reaching high revs. AKA you don't really hear the exhaust in normal driving. This is fine if you are into that, but for most people who
want to hear their exhaust, it's not the way to go.... and meanwhile it basically sounds the same as mine :rotfl: but he has no low-speed tone IIRC.

He then proceeded to say everyone else's exhaust opinions and setup were trash because they weren't the same, then left the forum because people told him to stop being a douche. As you can see on his comments, he still is said douche.

see my post about it here: #130

PEEJ, your exhaust should sound very similar to mine once it breaks in. The exhausts are very similar in design. Post a pic of the underbody if you have it. Yours may be a tiny bit louder because my test pipes, mid pipe, and mufflers are all resonated. I have 6 resonators and 2 mufflers on my exhaust if you include everything

Love its sound, I did not find the right tune yet on my ARK, I feel it is still missing something specially on low RPM.. And I did some cutting to the tips to rerouted due to my Renegade bodykits but it was not pro work from the shop that did the Job. Now need to go to another country to re do the job.
They cut it downstream muffler and bend tubes with sharp angle, and they did install a f***ing corroded pipe with bad welding quality.

I dropped the QX off at a local tuning shop to start the custom intake/exhaust modding process. I love my ride, but the QX70, even at the level of the 5.0, is just much too quiet for my tastes. I'd argue that the OEM exhausts compared between the 3.7 and 5.0 are nearly identical in the type of sound generated. It's time to do something about it.

The plan:

  1. K&N drop in filters
  2. Create a custom intake that gets rid of the OEM intake baffling in favor a less sound restrictive aluminum tube complete with mounts for the MAF sensor in favor of an aluminum mandrel.
  3. Install ARK GRiP Exhaust System
  4. Install custom stainless steel test pipes
  5. Osirus Uprev Tune because it'll really tie the room together

Here are a few questions that I see coming my way with regards to #2:

  • Will this net you any increase in horsepower? No.
  • Even with a tune? Doubtful, as I am reusing the OEM airbox which already acts as a functioning CAI and the aluminum tubing is the same diameter as the OEM intake tubing. If there is any power to be gained, it will be probably be so negligible that it will never be noticed.
  • Then why do it? Done solely out of the curiosity of discovering what kind of exhaust note is hidden within the VK50. At 390 hp, the 5.0 is significantly quicker off the line than the 3.7, and with 369 lb-ft of torque compared to the 3.7's 267 lb-ft, it's not even fair to compare the two together. But what's up with the exhaust? It sounds like I'm driving a Buick! Not for much longer.

Next up, stainless steel test pipes complete with start up, rev, and launch videos. Stay tuned...
Hey peej do you have the link or info to those intake pipes
