Hey guys,

Sorry for the newb question but I'm in a fix. I'm at a relative's house right now and they are offering to give me a free set of winter wheels and blizzaks. They are from their old 2005 Honda Odyssey 16", 5x114.3, high offset. Will these work on my 2005 FX35?

Quick replies would be much much appreciated.

Regards
John

im going to say no... reason why is that you're most likely planning to use the tires on those wheels.. most likely a 225/60R16.. the load index on that tire is not sufficient to be able to support the weight of an fx.. thats your first problem... ur second is that the width of those wheels are going to be too narrow to support any traction whatsoever and finally i don't think it'll clear our calipers.. be safe!!

The Odyssey is almost 4400 lbs. In my neck of the woods, narrower tires do a better job cutting through the snow than fatter ones. Look at rally cars.

But if it won't clear the calipers I guess I'll pass. :(

The Odyssey is almost 4400 lbs. - fact.. the weight capacity of the OE tires is 1450lb per corner, the OE tires of the FX support 2100lb per corner.. the fx is around 4500lbs but supports a higher payload and tow capacity than the odyssey..
In my neck of the woods, narrower tires do a better job cutting through the snow than fatter ones - fact, but also its the print of the tire that helps evacuate the snow n slush thats stuck on it amongst other features on the tire itself...

another issue is ABS and speed sensor calibration.. the overall diameter of the Odyssey tire is 26.5in whereas the FX tire is 30.5in.. its gonna take less time for the odyssey tire to make a full rotation compared to the fx tire.. this will inaccurately report the actual speed you're going and screw with the ABS sensor..

in other words.. don't do it.. its not safe lol
