quick knockin noise front driverside

ok when im in a stop or incline and step on the gas, i hear a quick knock or clunk on the front driver side. but if i take off softly i dont hear anything.

no noise going over bumps or no noise makin turns but when i turn the wheel to the left or right all the way at the end, i hear a noise.

i calle d ashop and they said it maybe the front driver side control arm. could it be?
and how much should labor and part be total?

anyone know a shop in brooklyn, ny that can do this??

I have the similar issue, but mine sounds like from the rear passenger side. No idea where to locate the noise.

sounds like a TSB issue:

A metal to metal noise—pop, click, creak, etc—coming from the left and/or right front of the vehicle,
NOTE: This noise, if it occurs, may be heard while driving at low speeds (under 20 mph) and when:
• Entering/exiting a driveway, or
• Driving over bumps (like a speed bump).

I took a ride in Lex's fx and it doesn't seem like the fender bolt issue. I thought it was coming from below the center console area. I'm thinking drive shaft/tranny type problem but then again...i know nothing so go figure. =P
