Quick Ipod Question: Any way to fast forward through songs?

Hey!

I think I've pressed and held every button imaginable trying to sometimes fast forward through a track that's playing on my Ipod through the USB interface, and beginning to think that this is not a feature. Am I correct?

If you find a way to do this please let me know. I listen to audio books and sometimes i need to fast forward. I also hate not being able to access my iphone when it is plugged in. is there a way to get around that feature.

I am able to fast forward or 'rewind' through my songs on my ipod by pushing the 'seek - cat / track' buttons on my center console. It' basically skips through chunks of time on the track, but it works. That way I can get through certain songs that have a long intro or whatever..
