Question regarding a used FX35 from a newbie

Be careful with the wty the $900 certified one is for drivetrain only and remember it will overlap your 6/70 drivetrain already on the car- you are much better off buying an Elite bumper to bumper wty.

Yes, I found about it this morning so I decided not to get it. Getting it would have extended my bumper-to-bumper warranty for only 2 more years and no extension on powertrain warranty.

And yes, I think the demand for used FXs is very high around here (they come and go really fast).

Anyways I did bring the car home!! So far I am very pleased with the ride! Thanks for all the advice guys!

Congrats- now you'll have to put up with those longing envious looks from other drivers when they see the FX and hear its melodious exhaust note. Have fun.

Thanks! I'm already in love with the exhaust tone!! It's so much different from my previous car (Honda Pilot)!

congrats eric! when you have time post some pics :). Now you can rape wooky's 350z around campus lol :)

Hey, this is kCire. I decided to change my account due to some personal reason (sent an email to the webmaster about deleting my old account).

I am enjoying the ride so far. It drives really well. But my two small concerns are

  1. When there's a bump or a little hump on the road (and one of the wheel goes on it), the steering wheel jerks to the left (thus jerking the car to the left). I am thinking that the alignment is wrong?
  2. The "VDC off" and "Slip" lights came on yesterday. I did some research and found out that a lot of other members are having the same problems. The dealer said they replaced all four brake pads so maybe they did something wrong during the process. I will bringing it in to the stealership when I go back home for winter break.
  3. While I was turning the ignition, the back lights on the dashboard came on then as the engine was turning on, it flickered, turned off, then turned back on (all in less than a second). Also, the engine had the "cammed" exhaust tone. I am thinking that my ride needs a new battery?
p.s. I will post some pics once I post over 10 posts!

eJay- do you have the GY RSA tires and if so how worn are they- my car behaves similarly on bad roads and from what I've read here it sounds like the tires are the problem. Mine have 6/32 tread remaining after 16k miles- I'll probably be replacing them soon with the yoko pradas-they seem to get great reviews.

1. It happens on mine too, with the stock RSAs and also with the parada's but less on the latter. Anyhoo i think its normal but doesnt hurt to check ur alignment

Oh really? I will go check which tires I have on and get back to you guys. It's good to hear that this is "normal" (but yes, getting it checked by the dealer wouldn't hurt anyone!)

The picture shows "GY Eagle"? But I'm getting used to it now. BTW, I really like the traction of this car (so much better than the Pilot)

Here are some pics!

Very nice really no comparison between Honda Pilot an the FX huh?
I concentrated my mods to handling performance as I live in the mountains and am very pleased with the results. There are many mods you can do to the suspension that will make your FX feel more stuck to the road and feel much more aggressive in the corners.Check out the suspension section.

nice eric! is that the lot by runk?

also, while your under warranty, i would suggest try getting the dealer to replace your window molding trim. Some will, some wont, but if you fight for it they most likely will :)

Thanks MTN and pat!

MTN: The FX handles A LOT better than the Pilot! I got so sick of the body roll with Pilot and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to get the FX.

Pat: Yes it is the lot right below runk. And why the molding trim? I tried to look for the "fading" color on the trim but I couldn't find any. Should I still get them to replace it?

BTW, I also heard some grinding noise when I was driving on a curbed road (so the body weight was leaning to the right side of the car). Also same grinding noise when I was backing into the parking lot (with the wheel turned all the way).

A lot of things to get checked but hopefully I won't have to keep bringing it into the dealer!

Hopefully I won't have to keep fixing things!

Is your grill blacked out up to the Fuji icon or is it just picking up darkness from something in front of it?

maybe its the lighting but in your last pic, if you follow the black trim that goes around the Front, Middle, and rear windows, you can see that the tiny rear quarter window has a solid black color to it, while the trim around the middle and front windows are faded compared to it

dont mean to be picky but just trying to help you out :P. Its better to get all this stuff done under warranty when its still 'free'

Wow, I did not know the faded window trim would be covered under warranty! Has anyone had this done? Did it take a lot of convencing for the dealer to do it?

im not sure if it is specifically but i know that people have had to replaced under warranty. Some dealers do it, no questions ask, others refuse and you'll have to put up a fight.

No it's not blacked out. OEM chrome : ) In fact, I think the very bottom part of the grill is falling apart (the outer most film(?) is falling apart). Would this be covered by warranty also? I'll post pics up soon!

eJay- nice- by the way your trim above the doors is def fading-I can see it clearly in the pics-just had mine replaced no hassle from dealer at all.

Your goodyear tires look like they are barely worn - mine are half gone at 16k. Maybe the dealer put new rsa's on?
