So today my wife was pulled over in Aurora and was given a $500 ticket for windows tinted to dark (25%) no front plate ans a smoked cover on the rear.... The cop said she will have to bring the fx to court so they can make sure everything got fixed than they will give her back her license. Oh, and additional court fees. Little harsh for a driver with a clean record. Will the judge reduce the fine if it's all "fixed"?
thanks guys,
Jason

Sounds like some fix-it-tickets to me, but I don't know your local laws. Why do you have a license plate cover though?

get a lawyer, you wont do anything to your vehicle and it will get dismissed.. just google around your area and find a lawyer that fights tickets.. It should be around $350-$550.. Also they hassled your wife, they could of ignored some of the stuff.

Not sure, I have always had a cover on the rear plate on all my cars.

Worst part is that we're moving to California in 10 days. Guess my luck ran out.

First thing to do is check the vehicle code violation #s on the ticket and look up the codes online and see where you stand.

Looks like YOU are in serious trouble..... From your wife For doing that to your FX and her being the one punished

I am all of that including windshield tint, but no rear plate cover. The rear cover is illegal now in IL. The front tint is legal in a sense, we can match up to 35%, but you or they will have to prove that its not "too dark". I have paperwork from the window tint shop that can explain the new tint law better. But as far as the no front plate and rear cover, no excuse for that. It's crazy, because I drive all over Naperville and Aurora too and I have yet to be stopped.

Some courts dismiss those things specially if the things are straightened out with what u got for a citation. How many violations did the cop give your wife?

would that be in addition to the fine or total with the lawyer?

Off memory, just to be clear, you can still get a ticket for 35% front tint.

1) 50% front if rear are factory tinted.
2) no tint front if rear are less than 35%.
3) 35% front and 35% rear are okay.
4) no front windshield tint.
5) i think all is within +/-5%.

You just jinxed yourself:)

es and no. Lawyers are mostly helpful when it comes to speeding tickets or illegal violations. Sometimes you appearing court wont get you traffic school e.g max speed on freeway is 65 your driving 90, that is a automatic point if you cant get a traffic school and most states driving over 15+ will not get you a traffic school. Heres where the lawyer comes in, he will 99.9% get traffic school to any case, even if you had 4 traffic schools in a year or wreckless driving over 100mph. Cases like tint, loud exhaust, illegal lights and etc. Lawyers usually deal with the clerks and usually dont step in a court room, but every state is different. Last time i got a tint ticket, my lawyer dismissed it on the 1st day. If a lawyer cant win a case (i.e dismiss it) then he will get you traffic school but you will end up paying the fine plus his fees plus traffic school fees.

would that be in addition to the fine or total with the lawyer?

Are you sure the fines are $500? In California all 3 of those are fixable tickets. All you would have to do here is remove the front tint, remove the plate cover, and toss on a front plate(even zip tied to the grill). Then take the car to the local police department or sheriff station. THe officer working the front desk would walk outside and glance at the car, sign the back of the ticket, stamp the back with the station address, then charge you like $10 for the time. THen you send the ticket in the mail with $10-$20 court fee to the court house and you are done.

Sec 12-503(a)- Tinted front side windows.
Sec 12-503(j) -Person guilty of tinted windows first offense (must remove tint and $50-$500 fine) ---- first offense should be $50 I assume especially if your wife shows up to court.

Sec. 3-413(a)-no front plate
Sec. 3-413(b)- Improper Display(Tint/cover)

I assume the 2nd and 3rd violations should also be around $50 bucks..... So your total I wouldn't think would be more than $150.

I saw fix the couple of problems and take it to the local Sheriff Station and see what they say.

In NY, it could be feasible that all three violations add up to $500. Here they can and will give you one ticket per window if they feel like it. Ouch!

Yes easily indeed mu friend had gotten 7 tickets for all five windowa and tinted tails .... So he took em off

Man if you were in NYC, I know a friend who is a board member of the NYPD police union

sent wireless 2
