Hi guys,
Just reeled an '07 FX45 (silver one...don't know it's exact Infiniti color name, but it's definitely silver--not dark or light silver, just silver)
And I'm loving it!
Anyhow, just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what kind of rims would look nice on this beauty.
My first choice for an FX was a black one, but I got such an incredible deal, I couldn't pass up on the FX45 and the color wasn't bad (silver is nice!).
I really, really wanted to get a black FX with black rims  That would've been SWEET.
But now I'm wondering the best way to "spruce" up the look of my silver FX!
Would black rims look good on a silver one still? Or should I go chrome now...(I kinda prefer the less pretentious--JMHO--black rims as opposed to chrome rims).
Any pics would be awesome too!!!
And any other suggestions of what I can do, would be also greatly appreciated!
I don't really care to MOD the engine or performance, really...the FX45 hauls some serious A$$ just fine ...so just looking on how to really IMPROVE the look of this bad boy...
Thanks, and FANTASTIC SITE! WOW, there are some amazing looking FX's on this site!

hey man, congrats & best of luck with it

black wheels look good on silver, several members here have that type setup... personally I love the look of like a gunmetal wheel on the silver, kinda towards black, but darker grey metallic to pick up on the silver... go with what you like though, can't go wrong either way, enjoy the new fx:smile:

Thanks for the kind words turbo!
Yea, I figure the gunmetal would look better...I guess it's cuz I'm such a big fan of black rims (which is why I really, really wanted a black FX!)...but not quite sure how good black rims would look on a silver FX.
Do you have a specific gunmetal wheel that you had in mind? Maybe I could take a look if you link me to a picture of it? :.smile: Tryin' to put a mental picture to it! haha
Thanks though!

not sure which wheels would come like that... I'm sure just black is easier for an off the shelf wheel... I've seen an fx local to me with stockers done in a gunmetal & it looked really hot... I'm sure a 3 piece with gunmetal centers would look hot to, but not sure where to find an off the shelf with that look really... depends on your budget & weather you want to dabble in custom or just stick with an off the self as-is rim...

Hey, congrats on your FX. I would have to agree with Turbo on the wheel choices. I say go 22's and lower your FX on H&R's or Eibach's. You might also want to consider a silver/machined wheel. Where in Cali are you located?

Hey 909,
I am located in Orange County.

What is a silver/machined wheel if I may ask?
More specifically I guess, what does it mean to be machined?

22's and exhaust!

Yea, I'm a little torn...
I love black rims...but I don't know if it would look better than chrome ones (I know it should be just up to me, but I also want it to be a good match and for it to look perfect!)
on my silver FX.
Chrome is a bit too showy for my taste, but I would still go with them if they look better.
Just trying to get some ideas for now

Welcome to the board, glad to see another 45 owner join, I'm kind of a newbe too, bought my silver 06 FX45 about 3 months ago. I seen a silver corvette with some wheels that looked to be charcol color, somewhere between flat black & dull silver. Looked great, I think I'm gonn try that on my stock wheels.

Congrats! What year boss?

Try these wheels http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel_catalog.php3?wheelID=6242 with Hankok Ventus RH06looking at them myself now Gee35FX just purchased them in silver for his 09 35. LIGHT and you will feel the inertial weight difference on your 45 off the line and in cornering.

All the standard visual mods you can find in 35/45 threads, grills, lights, mirrors, tinting, the best crossover 35/45 performance modifications are the GT Spec suspension braces, Lowering springs, and 20mm spacers if you plan to keep your 20" stocker wheels.

Limited but effective 45 performance mods:
+2 Timing advance
-Exhaust makes a difference, I just purchased the Invidia Gemini, based on my dyno run just under 7 WHP.
-JWT pop-Charger (running a special now at 135.00) plays well with an aftermarket exhaust and will give you back another MPG
-Electric fan mod 12-15 HP of parasitic power loss, power from 0 to the top end....and better MPG. big thread on the org. Both Aiya (another IS member) and myself are close to doing this mod.
-Gordon Gee grounding gear (or similar wire set, some members make there own)
-And an AWD UPREV dyno tune-This will unlock the power of all your work (or a stock ride) above off the line our car will be much stronger, yet fully reliable.....

Thanks!

It's a 2007. And it runs like a beauty...amazing vehicle!

Man, is there like a newb section on deciphering all this stuff?
I wanna do ALL these mods, but I haven't got the faintest idea what all of them really do!
I'm really a car newb! All I do (or did) was just drive my cars to get from point A to point B. But now with this new baby, I wanna do all kinds of mods to it!

hahaha

2007-A fine year for automobiles...So you can go with appearance or performance (at least to start, then later you can dump 20K into it and have EVERYTHING :). With the 45 you have a leg up on performance to start so maybe beginning with the appearance and suspension basics would be good.

Possibly lowering springs and wheels OR spacers if you want to keep your stockers for awhile. Your ride will look funky lowered without the wheels being pushed out to the fender wells, spacers will take care of that. A set of wheels with the correct offset will not need spacers.....

An STB (shock tower brace) is a nice addition for a quick hit suspension mod (less than $200 and a 20 minute install). Ties the front end together nicely-Better ride, better handling. There are a variety of STB's on the market to choose from. One thing to consider is maybe jumping in on an upcoming group buy for GT-Spec and doing the full five Pc. brace set. Just had the additional four braces installed and it makes a world of difference. Cost of all the braces $850.00, install cost $200.00. Again, the STB you can do yourself and if you can get up underneath the car the the lower braces are a pretty easy install as well. One thing to note on the GT-Spec STB (or FSB as they refer to it) you will need to remove your engine cover or mod it, the 06+ covers are not GT Spec FSB friendly.

Really there is a LOT you can do, and some of the guys on IS have done a great job of documenting their modification progress. Come up with a budget, consider what's important in your ride and move forward!

I just finished the install on my Invidia Gemini exhaust and the JWT pop charger intake. The 45 loves to breathe and the difference in performance is noticeable...next on my list is the electric fan install, some transmission upgrades and then a dyno tune.

Lightweight wheels and tires this spring.....

Congrats on your new ride! I had a picture of a gunmetal wheel on an rx-8, so I thought I'd share with you. It's my bro-in-law's car. Hopefully, it'll help with your "mental picture"

That' a GREAT representative color shot of graphite on a sllver body. My ride is sheer platinum, if my wheels only come in silver I am getting them powder coated graphite.
