Programming Keyless Remote Control **New FOB**

OK guys, as far as I know, this method only works for regular key fob's. If one of you has done it for an I-key let us all know because I could be wrong. Everything I have seen refers to programming the I-key through the dealership only. That being said, buying the remote, or key can be done online at sites like keylessremotes.com. Getting keys cut can be done by most locksmiths. Only the programming for the I-key has to be done at the dealership.

Again, if you have the I-key, and have performed this procedure and it has worked let me/us know. I'd love to find out it works.

oh , I thought it was for the ikey oops.

but the key inside the ikey is the same as the regular key

I think I tried this method about a year ago when I first got my fx & it don't work, I was then told consult II was necissary for the Ikey... has anyone actually got this to work or ???

I believe it does require Consult II. You may be able to take it to a Nissan dealer and save a couple of bucks.

afaik the intelligent key is the key/keyfob combo piece used for keyless ignition/entry. theres also a 'regular' fob thats used for keyless entry only if you didn't buy the package that comes w/ keyless ignition.

This thread appears to be about programming a new fob - but the instructions seem to imply this is for programming a new key as well. Did I understand that correctly or did I miss something? FYI, I have both key and fob to program and I was going to take it to my local stealer. If I can do both myself I'll get the blank key I have cut and then follow the instructions. Please advise.

The key needs to be programmed at the dealer. Make sure that you bring all of your keys in at the same time. If you have a regular FOB, that can be programmed yourself.

Remote Start - Key Programming

Here's a different scenario... I have a 2003 FX45 that just has the basic key and FOBS (Nothing Intelligent!). I purchased the car pre-owned and it only had one key. I just purchased a (Viper) Remote Start system on eBay for $66.99 and a transponder bypass module box for $19.99. I did not have a second key to place under the dash inside the module box, so I bought a new blank transponder key for $8.94 and I plan on getting it cut by Home Depot or Lowe's. The seller I bought the key from sent me directions on how to program it but I believe those instructions were for a fob and not the key itself. I called my local Infiniti dealer and they said it would be $110 to program the key. It will cost around $70 to get all of this installed. Does anyone know of a less expensive way to complete this setup? Thanks in advance!

Hm... I would hope you dont have to stash a key. The newer bypasses shouldn't require it for a 03 fx45.

You don't need the extra key cut btw, only the chip programmed.

on many cars the key needs to be cut because part of the programming sequence requires it turning the tumbler to ignition on & ignition off, I think this one does require that too. & yeah, a better but more expensive bypass will eliminate the whole key deal in the first place, making it the cheaper way to go. they communicate right through the can buss & learn the existing key code, then transmit that same code when necessary without the actual key being present

Will this work on non tech with old keyfob that looks so ugly? If i buy the new football shaped one, will i be able to program it?

anyone done any upgrades to the fob? In a perfect world I would like to do it all from my iphone. the key is a little bulky.

i was trying to program a pair of extra fob keys followed the steps exactly but the flashers never flash.
locked and closed the doors put key in and out 6 times in under 10 seconds.flashers just wont flash.any suggestions?
thnx

Hey guys, I just purchased a "switch blade" key from Amazon, I programed one of my fobs however I am trying to program the second one. The instructions are a little vague as how to program the second remote. I don't have the Ikey. it's only the key and fob separate. The guys above me also needed help with this. Some aid would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

If you can't program the second remote you may have reached the 4 remote limit. I'm not sure how you reset the system to get rid of old remotes that may have been lost or trashed. I think this might be a dealer/consult thing.

As far as I can see you just have to open then lock the car with the second remote at step 5 to link the second remote.
