Programming 05+ keyfob for 03-04

I've asked this question before but couldnt get an answer. Is it possible to program an 05+ oval remote to 03 and 04 FXs? I really dislike the square prehistoric shape of the 03-04 fobs. I called a few dealerships and they weren't sure either. Dont want to pay for fob/cutting key/programming to find out it wont work. Anyone done this?

This has been tried before but we were not successful in getting it done.

Yet with the new technology out there this could happen.

Unfortunately I am not a electrical guy..

I am moving this inquiry to TuroboCADS corner.. He might be able to share some insight in this..

I would love to have this upgrade on my Key Fob.

if you have a standard KEYFOB (doubt the bigger ikey design fits), this can be achieved.

Oh, I think Handy Andy should accept this challenge. I suggested this to him a few months ago. I was looking into swapping the circuit boards too, since the remotes use different FCC IDs. So the only way is to do a "brain transplant" like that link Soon shared. Great find!

Thanks soon. I saw that but mine is the intelli key so I doubt it'll fit in the oval remote. Besides I'm not good with electrical stuff :sad:

yeah, not really too practical. the board will not fit in the new key & the new key is not programmable to the old system... you would have to change at minimum the body control module just to recognize the new key, & then the new body control module & the key would also need to be programmed at the dealer too, on top of this I'm not 100% sure if the newer bcm is even plug & play to the earlier fx although I do believe it is, not confirmed...

I too would like this, but it can wind up being an expensive project & it's not even 100% confirmed to even be doable...
