Problem on my Scion

Not sure if this is the right place for the post but I'd figure I post it here the scion forums are helpless

My scion is throwing the code P0355 for the crankshaft position sensor, got a new sensor and had it replaced but the car is still not turning over, the mechanic said it's because the ecu is not sensing the new sensor, I replaced all the spark plugs and even got a new battery (old one was on its way out) I just have no idea what could be wrong, any help would help me out greatly, also when he plugged in the scanner it's still throwing the same code

strangely enough I opened and then closed my glovebox and it cranked right away, the ECU is sitting right in there might have been a loose connection
I was actually recommended to do this by the previous owner when I called him to see if he had any ideas.
CEL is still on, but its actually sitting in the shop now for them to one over the car and if anything clear my codes to see if anything comes back on
