Powder Coating Stock Rims on FX35

Anyone tried this ? How were the results ? Is it worth it or is it better to just buy a set of rims in the color I want ? I got quoted $300 from couple local shops.
The only thing that sucks is you have to wait about 5 days without your rims (and the car)

I had my old wheels powder coated by Fireball coatings and they tured out great. they charge $100 per wheel

That's one of the places that quoted me, do you have any pics by chance ? Any negative side effects ? Some people report "shaking" in the old thread.

$300 quote is a fair price.. usually they charge $80/rim here.. and 5 days? that's a long wait.. the shop i used here, you can get it same day, provided you bring the rims without the tires early in the morning though.. also it's by appointment.. there were talks about how powdercoating your rims destroys its integrity, since it has to be baked.. but never had that problems when i powdercoated my rims on my g35 before..

not the best pics but I traded into my FX shortly after I had them done.
the wheels were fine no shaking or any negative effects of any kind

Thanks for your feedback, I am debating whether to do this or get new rims. I

Also ,I just thought of logistical issue, where do I keep my car with the wheels removed ? I guess I would have to leave it on a lift in a shop somehwere and that doesn't sound cheap for 1 to 2 whole days

Don't forget the cost of having the rims taken off the tires, and then put back on the tires. Usually $25 a wheel to mount/dismount.

Also, $300 is quite expensive. I had my 18's powdercoated candy purple for $180 here in AZ, and that's a 2-stage powder.

I'd recommend just getting new rims and tires. The 18's are just too small on these cars!

I paid I think $500 total for powdercoating 4 wheels, mount and balance tires, and swap over TPMS from OEM wheels. All I did was drive to the shop once to swap the TPMS and drop off the tires, and drive back to put the new wheels on. I was willing to pay a bit more to not have to drive all over the city to take off tires, put on tires, etc.

$300 is a good price. All pricing is subject to your area of the country and cost of living. But that is CHEAP here. I would be scared how well they media blasted at $180 (no saying they're not good bit that is stupid cheap). I've done my own powder coating and each wheel is probably media blasted for 20-30 min. Very time consuming.
