Powder Coating my Stocks Wheels!

I finally found a place in IL that gave me a purdy good quote. Going to have the wheels media blasted before-hand, and I was quoted $275 for all 4 ($68.75 for powder coating only)

Frankiago, where in Chicagoland was this? I want my stocks PC'ed black.

I wonder what would be the difference in painting the wheels? I remember a while back reading a thread about a 350Z that snapped powder coated stock 350 wheels at the hub. The verdict was (and im not sure how much of an expert the guys that said it was) that the wheel lost some strength and structural integrity going through the baking process that powder coated wheels go through. ill try to find the post and link it.

maybe a forged rim, some people believe that when you powder coat forged rims they tend to become brittle (not sure the truth on this). With cast rims powder coating is fine.

The stockers are cast and I am not sure of the truth behind the brittle rim theory. I guess it really depends on the rim material and temperature of the oven. If this place is experienced in powder coating rims they probably would know more.

I have had cast rims powder coated and they held up fine. I have also had rims painted and the paint held up just as fine as the powder coated set.

Pupp, I signed up at chicagoz.com and was referred to Lo-Ko in Oak Lawn! I'll see what I can get as far as a quote. If they (Z guys) had good experience(s) there and the price is comparable, I think I'll be going there!

Well Fellas I just took the pludge and dropped off my stock wheels at Leaon's powder coating and I will have them back Tuesday. I got a great deal for blasting and coating at 50 a pop. So thanks to Brian on the lead. I'll be sure to post the final results. So my aftermarket wheels will be up for a fee and then I'll be looking for some 22's. if I keep the ADR's I have now, I'll get the powder coated a metalic blue or something crazy, maybe somebody can PS them to give me an idea....
