Potential New Owner

Hello Infiniti Forum!

I am looking at purchasing a used 2004 FX35 with about 61,000 miles on the clock and was hoping to come in here and get some information from the people in the "know". I'm looking for info like, reliability, common problems, price that I should be considering. Right now I am being quoted $19,670 plus tax's and title fee's of course. I have attached a picture of the SUV. As you can see it's got those huge chrome rims. If I do buy this thing I would be looking to trade those rims for a set of stock 20's.

Please chime in and let me know what your thoughts are I'm looking to get as much info as I can before I go back to the dealer.

Thanks!

Hey Raptorman, welcome to the forum!

You would probably be best served by using the search function - it will return threads on topic that you will be able to read when you have the time.

Also as a side note, I put 110,000 miles on my 2004 with mostly regular maintenance items. A seat motor went out and one of my door lock actuators as well. The OEM tires are terrible and don't last very long. There are a bunch of much better options out there. I'm a fan of the Yokohama Parada Spec-X. Depending on what the seller has on there you might be able to negotiate new rubber.

Do you plan on modifying the car in any way or are you just worried about normal maintenance? Have the shocks/struts checked. They should be replaced at the 60K mileage mark. As for brakes, staying with the OEM pads & rotors is the easy route but there are price competitive options for much better rotors, pads & calipers out there when it comes time for replacement of any of those.

Cruise around the forum and read up. Tons of exactly the kind of information you are looking for already posted in past threads.

Oh yeah and I hope this is the last time you ever mis-spell the brand name. Pet peev of us owners! INIFINTI.

very reliable as long as regular maintenance is done.

check the blue book on that 04 FX, not sure about the condition, seems like a decent price according to kbb.com

Thanks for the response this car is going to be more for my wife then anything else so I dont plan on modifying it.. much, but will do with the search function

welcome to the IS.
could you please tell us the model of your FX i.e. base or tech package and so on because i bought my 05 FX last year for around 19K with 42K miles but mine's a base model. i am only trying to justify the price you have mentioned that is only if yours is the upgraded FX.

I always recommend for new owners to get a 06 and up.. They incorporated lots of good improvement and updates from that year and up. Also beside wear and tear parts the FX hold on pretty good.. Keep the regular maintance and it performe like a champ..

Good luck!!

Welcome to IS!!

from what i know of the car it's fully loaded and has the I-Key, nav, back up cam, dvd player, tv in the back, leather seats, I mean the ride is sweet. It even comes with 24 inch chrome rims that I plan on trading for a set of the stock 20's
