Possible noob question regarding OEM navigation

I apologize if this has been covered, I did try searching for it but couldn't find anything. Can you guys tell me if something is wrong with my navigation or if there's some sort of setting I have to change? Everytime I enter in a destination into my navi, the directions would ALWAYS tell me to take inside city roads as supposed to taking the freeway. Even if my destination is 2 hours away, it will never tell me to take the freeway. Can anyone tell me why this is? TIA!
 
Probably it is set to avoid HW... Check your navi settings. Also the navi suck on our fxes it tel you to go around in different direction even tho Ie. Making a simple right or left turn would do. I barely use mine.
 
Make sure have the Nav set to quickest route instead of shortest route and/or avoid Highway's and Freeways. The settings are under the navigation menu's. Also, look in your navi owner's manual for more detailed answers.

I've tried both, quickest route and shortest route and still get the same results which only takes me through local city streets. But as far as finding the option to choose to avoid freeways, I couldn't find it. I have the owner's manual and for more navigation specifics it says to refer to the separate navigation manual. I purchased the car used and unfortunately it didn't come with one. I tried to d/l it from www.infinitihelp.com but the navi manual doesn't seem to be there, I get some sort of error message when I try to click on it. Anyone have any ideas where else I can download it?

I'll have a look at my navi when I get home. I don't use the stock navi anymore so I forgot what all the options are and where they are located.

I've tried both and it still tells me to take local city streets, completely avoiding the freeway altogether.

So I spent about 1/2 hour yesterday going through all the possible settings and options and I still could not find anything. When I was looking to purchase an FX, the number one feature that I wanted was the navi. I love the navi in my 2004 G35, granted it's a year older than my FX, I never had any problems in my G35. Why is the navi platform so different from the G35 to the FX? The G35's navi you can store different addresses in the address book, it keep previous destinations, and it's easier to navigate.

the 05 navi does store addresses, it keeps previous destinations, and there are options to avoid highways....it should be the exact same thing as your 04 navi unless there is an aftermarket unit in there? I have an 05 and i can change all those options....
after you put in the address, the options come up quickest and shortest route, avoid major roads, etc, make sure that you change those as well.

No, the freeways aren't new at all. I can actually see them on the screen.

Ok, so now I'm more confuse than EVER! All those features you listed above are in fact options on my G35's navi but not on the FX. After I input a destination, the only options I get are quickest or shortest route, that's it. There are no options to save previous destinations, avoid highways, or tolls at all on the FX. Navi seems stock, I don't think there's an aftermarket, the map looks just like my G35. Anyone know why I don't have all the options?
 
Ok, so I FINALLY was able to find what the problem was. Under settings, there was an option "show shortcuts" that was selected. So when I unchecked it, all the options finally showed up and low and behold, the option to minimize freeways was selected. So problem fixed, fixed everyone!!!
