Pocono International Raceway

Check the track surface before you commit. Our tires were rubbish after the runs. I didnt care too much cuz I hated my RSAs & they were at there ends anyway, but Doc's Yok's took a nice beating too. I felt bad for his setup. For the life of me, I cant figure out why the people who organize these events cannot give us a good surface to waste our money & rubber on.

I'm a bit late to the game on this one...

it looks like you guys were on more of a road surface? A street circuit of sorts? Where Tayfun was and where I run all the time is at Pocono Raceway where it's track-only and the surfaces are maintained very well. I'll also be doing the new track in South Jersey next week, Summit Point in West Virginia (need to mount my gun rack ;) and Watkins Glen in October... all of which are tracks meticulously maintained. The "potholes" that Tayfun mentioned weren't really potholes at all. I've driven over the patch that he's talking about which *LOOKS* a lot worse than it really is many many times last weekend in various cars with various suspension setups and it was nothing. In fact, I was using that "rough" patch to help my students understand where they wanted their car to be and, although reluctant at first, they all eventually understood that it wasn't rough at all - not nearly as bad as it looked. In any case, the RSA's (dubbed 'really suck ass' in the SE-R community) are just aweful in any condition. Yokohamas are an aggressive tire with a low treadware rating so they're going to chunk and wear unevenly when pushed hard on the track. That's just the nature of an aggressive street tire. For my SE-R, I have a set of Falken Azenis on right now and they're doing decently given the fact that they're 4-years-old and see only track use in the summer. Eventually I'll fit one of my spare set of wheels with race tires. I used to run race tires all the time but went through them like no tomorrow because I wasn't that great of a driver :( It's an expensive hobby but worth it in the adrenaline rush!

I'm trying to set up another FX track event (in case there are any east coasters not reading the org). Here's the thread I started with some dates:

D'oh... won't let me post a link :( Under meets and then FX track event
