Please be careful w/ those modded FX's

I remember reading that when it happened. Sad is such an understatement. It sure is an eye opener.

if you read into it though, it makes sense. young kids given a car way out of their league and left unsupervised at an airport? sounds like a recipe for disaster. i would have done the same thing, but i probably would have checked where the end of the runway was, and made sure i had room to stop. plus i wouldnt want people with me, 3 people in the car really affects my braking.

+warning some disturbing crash stories+

i remember reading this a whilleeeee ago. this same thing happened to a friends of mine who unfortunatley are no longer with us. earlier this summer a kid who used to play football on my team (graduated a year before) got into a high-speed accident in the left lane. he was driving fast behind a large suv, but the suv suddenly moved out of the way and right there was a disabled vehicle, who my friend billy then smashed into probably going around 100...in a shitty old outback. he lived but was put into a coma...then unfortunately passed away. we all tried to raise money more for his family because he was put into the rutgers hostpital i believe, which his family had to rent a hotel room near in order to visit him and such. but yea it's kind of sad.

speaking of accidents i never said what happened the other day....I was with 2 friends cruising on 15 (by my college in selinsgrove, PA) and we saw this yellow mustang kind of drifting back and forth (not drifitng drifting like sideways drifting, but like drifitng when you like move back and forth and stuff) obviously they were drunk. So me, having seen worse accidents (one of my "car guy friends") and have seeing a drunk driver crash in the past, i told my friend to follow the mustang, sincce we had ntoihign to do anyways ( 2 a.m.---we were looking for the walmart in harrisburg) o anyway, the mustnag pseeds to to 60ish, still kinda drifting, then suddenly gets off an exit--it makes the offramp fine, then comes to a T intersection, blows thru the stopsign turning right, loses control and smashes into one of the cement supports of the road we just got off of. if there was a passsenger they would have been killed, the front bumper on that side was up to the back of the wheelwell. the driver, a drunk woman, broke her right arm but was alive. One of my friends ran ove rto check ehr condition because he was volunteer FD in his town, he saw she was alive enough to be screamig in pain (we had already called 911) but we didnt know/want to do anything because especially by me, if you help and somehting happens, you get blamed. so we waited for the police ot arrive. first came a volunteer FD, then ambulance, then fireturck............then the police 9apparently caugth up at a dunkin donuts). so anyway, we KIND OF saved her life in the fact that we called the cops and stuff, and blocked off the road (which wasnt busy anyways) it wasnt that bad for me, since i've seen worse....but my friends were freaked out. no pic, sorry 0_o

i guess since we're telling stories ill tell some more.

my friend owned a modded lancer....(like fast and the furious 2) and apprently, as i presumed, he liked the movie. so he decided to try the 180-drive backwards-180 drive forwards move fomr the movie....going around 40. mid 180 the car flipped. he survived.

another story--my friend driving his dad's s6 with 3 other friends rushing to get to a soccer tournament (they missed the bus) almost missed the exit, cut across 4 lanes, hit the curb and flipped the s6 3 times (my firned guessed 3) and stopped in a ditch ont he roof. they had to kick out the back windshioeld to get out, everyone was okay.

another--my friend drove his eclipse into a telephone pole.....

another- my friend had a jasper bike or something.. i forgot what those bikes are called. the really fast ones....anyways. ( you probably already know what happened) yeah, high speed crash he survived. i think he punctured a lung, broke 4 ribs, his arm, foot and wrist. he's alive, but is stuck whipping around the mommy's 2000 land rover.

there was another i know which i think was just as bad as this one if i remember--out on long island in commack or the town over or somehting--a couple high school kids were drunk and split the car in half or somehting but i think one kid survived.

another that my roomate was telling me about was his friends trying to get a girl home for curfew at 1 am were speeding and we hit by an oncoming car who jumped the median. the car was tboned and anded up spinning into antoher car. unfortunaely all of the people inside died immediately expect one (gross) who was severed partially in half and was sistting there screaming in pain until around 5 minutes before the ambulance showed up (according to the occupants of the 3rd car that was hit, where everyoine was okay). disturbing.

there's more stories of people i know, but i wont bore/disturb/gross you guys any longer.

things like this just happen, all you have to do is if you speed, be smart about it. dont drive drunk, do what i do and try to stay in front so there is nobody to hit, be smart about weaving through lanes. stay away from people who look drunk because (another story) they might sideswipe you....

but yeah...be smart,m especially with 3 people int he car. i know for me, i drive alot faster and dangerously (but im in full controll) when i am alone compared towhen i have people in the car. i shouldnt put thier lives in danger. i may be only 17 and you guys might consider me young and ignorant, but i think i am mature to a point.

You're nuts for following a drunk.......If i see someone swirving I stay away from them as much as possible.

I think we've all got a bunch of stories, I know I've got quite a few & I was def one of the wreckless ones when I was younger... I can actually think of a few times I should have been dead, but, when your a kid, you just don't really realize, you think your good & you think your in control & you are, to a certain point... it's when that point is passed that you are no longer in control & your life is in gods hands...

my last "incident" was at over 150mph on my ZX11... I was dead, shoulda never walked away from what I did & yeah, it was all my fault... I knew at that point that the rest of my life from that day foward was all just a bonus. now, with a wife & a kid & a bunch of real experiences behind me, I can say that I am now pretty chill... most friends still think that I drive like a nut, they should only know...

+1
you can call 911 and report drunk drivers now (at least in Cali)

The M5 story was really sad, I would give some of the blame on his parents. (even though he was +18).

I hear of kids crashing and dieing more often now...:embarrassed:

"common sense is not very common"

i wanted to make sure someone was there to help them if they crashed. we were a good -12 seconds distance behind the car, enough to avoid anything. 0_o

and to what john said--- i agree with you, i am young and "think" i am in control. but i try to know the limits of what i am driving--like at the LI meet when i made that fast turn into the second parking lot- i knew i could make it so it wasnt a problem. if i didnt think i could then i wouldve went all the way to turn around. i go to closed parking lots (my grandfather's warehouse) and try to create situations and be able to handle my car. like ill set up cones or something and etc.---to be able to have better reactions and stuff whilst driving. i know i am not the best driver in the world, but i think i know my current limit and drive accordingly. if i know i can handle myself cruising at 80 minimum on the highway, ill do it (which is what i do anyways). its another story if im in a hurry. but as i said. i try to keep myself away form other people that can cause accident. i have this thing wher ei need to have no cars in front of me, idk its wierd 0_o haha. but yeah..

I used to thrash my cars through parking lots & learn how to control my car sideways, 180's etc... I've beat some cars till I broke them, I've been airborne & yeah, I was good, but, you gotta realize your not alone on the road. many of my "incidents" were the result of another driver doing something really stupid, or panicing when they see me coming, or just not realizing just how fast I was going... that's one thing that you can't control is the other drivers...

I used to drive like I was auditioning for the dukes of hazzard, I've had cops chase me for miles cause they couldn't catch me & I didn't even know they were even chasing me. back then cops weren't like today though or I would have been arrested many times. this may sound like showing off but really it's the opposite, I was really stupid, but, back then I sure didn't think so, I just thought I was good:smile:

now adays, when I'm driving with my family & I see a guy in a little buzz bomber blow by me at twice the speed limit I get mad... he has no right to put my life or my car in danger, just like I had no right to do the same... but did I think of that back then? hell no

oh yeah, one more thing to think about... just about everyone that crashes didn't think they would crash... they "knew" they could handle it... right up until they couldn't...

I remember when you told me and Soon that story .. News flash John ........... you're still a nut.

"if you help and somehting happens, you get blamed"
you know that there is a law that makes this statement false? the good samaritan thing frees you from blame, and its actually a law that you do have to stop and help

Sad, Very Sad.

+1 TURBO,

When I got my license at 16, I was the same. I have totaled a few cars here and there, and I'm lucky to be alive as well. When I look back, it seems that I had a whole lot of GUTS that I no longer have. Recently, I realized that it was a "whole lot of Stupid", not guts. Sometimes when I'm speeding, I have flash backs, and I get the feeling as if I'm standing on a ledge looking down, and my knees give out.

Last crash I had was with the my FX and cost about $4000. 1/2 of my Front wheel flew off. I took less than 1/2 a second to make a really stupid decision that would not have made a bit of difference if did not crash. But it made a lot of difference when I did.

Unfortunately, when you're young you feel you're invincible, but sometimes you learn too late, that it's not the case.

When you get older, you make decisions and think about them twice. I have 3 kids, a wife, and an ex-wife. One of which I did not think twice making the decisions. And I have to pay for that mistakes for the rest of my life.

This is to the everyone who reads this.
MAKE SURE FOR EVERY DECISION YOU MAKE, YOU THINK TWICE BEFORE, NOT AFTER. SOME DECISIONS WILL TAKE A LIFE TIME TO PAY FOR.
