Saw this video on you tube and I thought it was crazy. I would never use the stock unit for anything if i had my phone hooked up like this. Does anyone know if this will work on the 2nd gen FX? I have the same phone he uses in the video. Secondly if this will work on a 2nd gen FX is there someone in NY or close enough to NY that will do this for a fee? The way he streams video and uses the Google maps gps navigation is crazy.

By the way I know disabling the parking brake sensor is not a new hack idea but I'm asking if anyone else has successfully installed a setup like this, phone and all, on a 2nd gen specifically an 09 FX?

That's pretty cool. Sucks the guy didn't give any info on it.. Maybe he's using a USB or the rca plugs with a wireless transmitter or bluetooth to send the signal. Kind of like chrome cast for tv...?

Cool indeed, probably sharecast adapter is used as wireless streaming

In his comments he said he used Samsung media hub from amazon and a hdmi to rca converter. He also says that it's plug and play and could be used on any car....

this makes me more mad that Infiniti decided to discontinue using RCA cables in the 2011 and up fx models. WHYYYYY

So he did the same thing I did with a media player/hdd connected to rca; except wireless.

Ok so for the 09 FX with nav, we are pretty much doing the nav mod in this thread.

Then purchasing this hub from Samsung.

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EAD-T10JDEGSTA

Here is the Samsung hub on Amazon, I believe the first link is just an older model which is why it is cheaper. In the video he said only paid $70 for his hub so he must be using the older model.

older model

or the newer model

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HDEGG0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AR8BB3PR7XX01

Then you need this or a similar HDMI to RCA cable to hook the Samsung hub up to the RCA inputs in the arm rest.

I want to do this asap. I thought I read somewhere that the RCA inputs in the arm rest were only for playing video on rear monitors, or did I mistake that for FX models with the rear entertainment system installed? Do the RCA inputs in the arm rest definitely play video up front? If so, this has to be one of the most underrated mods I've stumbled across. You can virtually display anything your phone screen will display onto your lcd display. The fun factor alone is worth it. I watched a few vids on what the Samsung hub can transmit and it will transmit everything from music, movies, and webpages to skype conversations on screen. The FX comes with enough 12V outlets not to lose juice on my phone either. This one is a no brainer if the RCA inputs allow video up front.

Lol.

"the switch blends right in", no not at all.

Very cool mod though.

Lmao that was my exact thought. Maybe by "blend in" he meant "not hanging down loosely"

hmmm, I might try to do this on my first gen, as I have rear entrainment system and NavTV mod....

does anyone knows if this will work with BlueTooth or only WiFi??? Looked all over Samsung site, but could not tell if it does?

Just remember, the screen quality on the first gens isn't great. I have had a NavandTV2Go installed for like 3 years now and hooked up a phone to it for a while. After the novelty wore off, I never used it. The picture quality is awful, it's just easier to look at a phone. I'm considering pulling the video box since I haven't used it in 2 years. I have an aftermarket overhead monitor in the rear that my son can still use, picture quality is way better and I got a cable to hook up his Galaxy tablet. It's just hard to look at the OEM screen when you're used to HD quality smartphones, tablets, and TV's.

Be careful buying the HDMI to RCA cables. A lot of them have limited compatibility. I've had issues using newer HDMI devices with the convertor cables.

Absolutely keep in mind I'm just working through how this would be done for the first time. Even if the links I posted are the correct items, please double check people as I'm not absolutely certain, I am more trying to figure it out. Anything that I buy to try to make this work would certainly be top notch and purchased somewhere that it can be returned if it doesn't do what it is supposed to.

For the 09-11 owners, would anyone be willing to trace the Aux video/audio wires back to screen or controller. I would like to know if it is as simple as running those lines to get video for us (11.5+) without the Aux lines. I'm also hoping that the Nav/Video controller doesn't need a firmware change to enable the aux video line.

If anyone is interested, it works great with Raspberry PI (i tried it in my FX)

KyTy3OFF,

I tired this with my 2009 FX50S using:

•Samsung All Share Dongle
•Mini RCA to HDMI converter (HDMI2AV)

connected everything and it didn't work.

Can you detail how you did this?

Very respectfully
Rick.

I have Gen 1 with rear entertainment system and NavTV, so my setup was totally different... sorry for no help.... :disapointed:

KyTy3OFF,

Thanks for replying in a timely manner.

Has anyone tired doing this on 2nd GEN FX50 with RCA center console inputs?

Are you sure all of your equipment works? Did you test the RCA to HDMI cable on something else? Like shadow191 said, some of them have compatibility issues. If your RCA inputs are working fine and the Samsung media hub is communicating with your wireless device with no issues, I don't see why it wouldn't work. See if you can find a TV with RCA inputs and see if you can get the TV to display your wireless devices screen using all of your equipment since it should produce the same results. I haven't tried this yet but I am dying to. I have an 09 and I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up in NY, but in theory it should work fine.

I tested all equipment on all TVs at my house. First I tested RCA/HDMI cable (connected HDMI male input directly to Samsung dongle). RCA male inputs connected to TV, this didn't work. Next, I ordered HDMI2AV converter, connected all cables and devices, This didn't work.

I couldn't figure out how to this MOD is done. I'm sure the more we try at it. It will happened.

11-12 FX35 owners without AUX video/audio inputs in center console ever tried this product from Naviks? It seems to work with Nav systems whereas the NavTool version is not clear about working with 2012 models.

Hi,

regarding your post, I haven't seen anywhere on this site talking about this MOD. Keep asking and searching I'm sure you'll find your answer.

I have a question, if this MOD works for 2012, what are you trying to use the NAVIKS video inputs for?
