Picked up my car yesterday. I like it! But some weird inconsistencies..

So as the title states, I finally picked up the 09 FX35 yesterday (after waiting a week for the dealer to do a half-ass detail and scratch removal on it).

Needless to say, I love it. Huge upgrade from my 06.

All was good until I realized it has some weird issues. I scoured both the manual and the forums to no avail.

I have Nav & Prem pkgs and warranty for another 6 months or 8k miles or so.

So here they are, in order of annoyance.

1. Both headlights fog up, covered under warranty?
2. No beeps when locking/unlocking via door handle or leaving car running with I-key (speaker broken?)
3. Footwell lights turn off when the car is in Drive (I thought they were supposed to stay on?)

I think that's it for now, I'll probably take it to the dealership on Monday, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, one more issue. I knew I was forgetting something!

4. The music box \ CD player don't stay synced to their current position when you cycle sources and/or power cycle the vehicle. I'll turn it off while listening to track 11. I turn it on, it's on track 25. LOL!

Congratulations on the new ride !! I would think #2 can be changed via the settings since not everyone wants to hear the beep and all the others I'm sure the dealer can look into each issue !?

Enjoy and share some pictures when you have a chance !!!

Can't do a thing about the music issue. The beeps can be addressed via settings. I forget, but I think you have to hold one of the remote buttons down to change the beep. The owners manual would address all of this.

Congrats on the purchase.

Congrats on your trade-in! I wouldn't worry about the fogged up headlights. You said the dealer had it for a week, so it was probably inside all week. After you got it, it was exposed to the cold (It's cold in Toronto, right?) and the sudden change in temperatures and that's why it fogged up. It should go away after a few days. I can't explain really why, but its something to do with the temperature and atmospheric pressure. I've seen this happen on a lot of headlights, including mine. As for the I-key notification, it should be in the car settings in the menus.

Thanks for all the replies. The headlights look like they're clearing up. We'll see what happens. And yeah it's been pretty cold here the last week or so.

Regarding the I-key beep. I went through the entire menu system like 10 times with the car in acc, on, on (started) with no luck. In my 06 there was a menu option that would let me toggle beep/honk, but I can't find it on this one. I may be just blind, but if someone could point out the specific menu location that would awesome.

Congrats, I love how white looks, what color was ur previous FX?

Thanks! I had a black 06 before. Thought I'd change it up. Already loving the fact that the paint hides almost all imperfections/scratches. Don't like how visible stone chips are.

Nice FX!

1. Some fogging in the headlights is normal. There is a TSB on this stating it's normal:

2009-2013 Infiniti FX35/FX50: Exterior Lamp Fogging

Summary of ITB03051
:
SERVICE INFORMATION Occasionally customers may notice water vapor or fog in the exterior lamps. This is generally NOT due to a defect. The information, illustrations, and flow chart within this bulletin are provided to help you in determining ifan incident for water/condensation in the lamps is normal or not. See this bulletin for further detail.

It's because even though the headlights are sealed a part of it is vented to the atmosphere to let moisture out. Sometimes fast temperature changes cause some moisture so it's normal. I don't have access to the full TSB right now but its what it is.

2. To activate the beep there is no option on the navi menu. To activate it stand outside of the car with the keyfob in your hand and at the same time press and hold the unlock and lock button together for 15-20 seconds and the horn should sound. Then push the button on the door handle outside to confirm if it beeps now.

3. Footwell lights are suppose to be on all the time. If your using the stock bulbs that means they are extremely dim at night so it's hard to tell if they are on. To confirm at night time just turn the car on and get up under the footwell and look to see if their lit up. If not the bulbs are burned out. If your wanting brighter bulbs where you will actually notice they are on your going to need to upgrade to LED bulbs. Oh and make sure the speedometer brightness is set to max because it controls the footwell mood lights.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the TSB regarding the fogging and the footwell help. I'll look under there once they finish tinting it.

The holding lock/unlock button trick only activates the horn on/off for the remote. Doesn't seem to do anything about the lack of beep from the door handle issue.

I'm pretty sure the speaker is busted. I had the car running and walked out of it with the key and closed the doors. And no beep. On my 06 it would beep like nuts to remind me that the car is left running with no key inside of it.

No problem man. If that still isn't working the speaker for the beep noise could be busted. One time I drove through a blizzard and the speaker froze up and wouldnt make a noise.

congrats man.

I'm sure this is 99.9% not the case for you, but just want to throw it out there just a FYI....fogged up headlights is one of many signs that a car could had been flooded. I would look for other signs like discolor anywhere in the interior especially the carpets, more than normal rust under the car, any electrical problems (horns rarely go out, but hey if you put it under water it could), getting a better deal than normal, etc and/or ask to get a car fax if you can.

Yeah man, I've heard that before. It has a clean carproof & carfax. I don't see anything else out if the ordinary on it. Carpet looks brand new, dark black.

The headlights are crystal clear now. Guess its just the stupid random weather we've been having here lately.

Tint & interior LED conversion done. Now onto tail lights

Looks good!

I see you went with Llumar which is a extremely good brand of tint some of the best. If insurance repairs my car the windshield and side windows have to be retinted cause the glass shattered so I will go with this brand instead this time.
