Paul Walker (RIP 11/30/13)

RIP Mr Walker. Giving back at his greatest. Huge lost in today's society and the car culture.

That makes it even sadder to know he wasn't even behind a wheel.
R.I.P.

On contrary, it made the situation a lot easier for fans, friends, especially family. Had he been behind the wheels, people are going to crucify him even dead and blame it on macho driving especially he was the main cast in F&F.

R.I.P. to Paul Walker. I don't know the man but I felt he was a friend. I hope his teen aged daughter will be alright.

you bring the car world on a whole new level.it will be hard to find someone to fill your shoes R.I.P

So shocked when I heard this, i still remember watching the very first Fast and the Furious till now, and excited to watch the 7th.
Atleast he died what he loved doing. RIP.

It was his car and I'm sure he was pushing his buddy to try out how fast the car can go.

I literally just watched F&F 6 last night. When I told a few buddies that I just watched it and thought it was a good movie, thats when they told me about his death. That made it even more shocking and eerie. Dont wish what happened to him to nobody and feel really bad for his family and friends.

That's a pretty sweet video. He's gone up to 185mph on the freeway? Wow, so dangerous.

I'm going to take a stab and guess that Roger slammed on the gas right after drifting a turn getting on Herceles St which the loss of control could had been due to those bumps on the road dividing the lanes. That road is a big oval too perfect for trying to do this. Google maps shows that area with drift skid marks in a few areas.

I wish we knew more details as to what happened....we may never know, but I'm guessing the above.

A time when I was in detroit and there was street racing going on, one person during the race blew a tire and ran right into a pole. Who knows, maybe something like that happened too.

Really sucks.

^ That's a good analysis, especially from 2000 miles away.
I work about a mile from there and have been up in that area a dozen times. Mostly in the FX and also other cars including a memorable spin in a heathily modded evo. Anyways, it is a quiet area and also has some elevation change to add to the excitement. This industrial area doesn't get much traffic during the weekdays. Weekends are especially quiet. I won't go as far as to say that this road is dangerous or that it is a street racer hang out - it is neither of these. But, this series of streets is easy to speed on.
Good analysis JD.

*** not that your theory is correct. I have no idea and haven't really read much about the incident. I'm just adding to your speculation from Google maps. ***

A lot of guys in Vancouver have started an event for him. Sounds like the date has been finalized to next saturday. A nice cruise through a good portion of vancouver, quick photoshoot, then down to a local specialized dealer where people can watch the original fast and furious on a big screen.

The event organizers have asked everyone atleast donate $5 to the Philippines (as this was the event Paul was leaving when the accident happened).

I will be attending as I believe it to be a fitting tribute to Paul Walker. I may get some Vinyl decals made that Say "RIP Paul Walker" on them. Just so bystanders understand whats going on when 300+ modded cars roll through.

PS. If anyone else in Vancouver wants to join in let me know, I will reach out to the few members who I have talked to recently about coming out.

Ive been around there many times, stopped by today to see the unfortunate sight and there were evident tire skid
marks towards the crash sight. Porsche gt3 i believe with ceramic brakes and sticky tires. If in fact racing or speeding those two things need to be warmed up to feel max performance. I have horrible feeling that the tires werent warmed up fully and the brakes too hence they oversteered roger tried to catch it with no success.
Few friends told me they were racing, they heard loud engine revving and etc few blocks away

It's crazy. Genuinely upsetting. Reading up on it and it really just seemed like a bad timing thing. Walker showed up at the event as they were moving the GT presumably away when walker then asked to go for a ride.

RIP

i saw a vid of one of the first cars to see the the crash was a modified m3… makes it seem like there may have been a few cars in the area and that there may have been speeding involved…. RIP Paul, the movies are what sort of got me in the modifying cars and tuner world (was already into cars in general) and although they started out cheesy have always been favorites of mine.

Theres a vid showing him next to the Porsche he crashed which seems to be at the auto shop. But if you think about it, the driver was a professional race car driver and the speed zone was 45. It doesnt make sense if they were gong 45 and a professional race car driver lost control and wrapped his car around a tree. 45mph straight on a telephone pole or a sturdy tree would cause that damage but skid marks would mean they were slowing down atleast. Gonna watch his new movie and fast and furious 7 tho.

Theres a few reports too that they think there was a drag race involved and possibly a few donuts. After some more digging they said they found a leak that was possibly the steering fluid.

You say 45mph, but only recently was it changed. It used to be 35mph.
