There is really no need to replace it. I had mine replaced last time after I accidentally drove my car with parking brake on for a few miles. When I removed the old shoe and compared that with a brand new shoe, there was barely any wear, maybe 0.5 mm. Just adjust it will be enough, the shoe has at least 4 mm of abrasive material and it is really hard to wear it out unless you drive with it really tight for many...many miles.
