Hi,

I tried searching this topic but couldnt find the exact answers I was looking for. I am looking for a set of new tires and have narrowed it down to the Parada Spec-X or Hankook Ventus ST RH06 in the factory size 265/50/20. I am from the NYC area and we experience all sorts of weather here. My main concern is handling in wet situations. I like the bridgestones factory tires but they are def not cost effective in terms of pricing and wear on them. I know both tires received excellent reviews on here but if anyone has a little more indepth experience with both of these wheels could chime in i would really appreciate it, it would be a bonus if u are also from the nyc area. From what i've read so far, the parada's are a bit mushy on corners on dry pavement. The kooks seem to handle dry, wet and even snow well but arent as good in the rain.

In terms of pricing, i could get a set of paradas shipped for $650 and a set of kooks for $620 shipped. Please let me know what u guys think. Thank you

Former Parada Owner here now Kook rocker

The reason i switched was cause the paradas were backordered everywhere, and scored the kook's at a decent price.

Honestly, the only major differences felt - Kooks handled better then the paradas in the snow. For example, last year, with the paradas, i had to dig myself out. This year, with similar snow conditions, the kooks, with a little slip, were able to get the car out of the snow. Other then that... ride comfort, grip, cornering has no noticeable change. Both have sexy thread patterns though ;-)

One thing to check as i might be wrong. I think the kooks are rated to last longer than the paradas.

Hey Pmanliu,

So if they had the parada's in stock u wouldve gotten them instead of the kooks? as for the tread wear I think both are the same at 420AA. The kooks does have a speed rating of W (up to 168mph) compared with the paradas that have a V (up to 149mph) rating.

Never had the Paradas (which are also rated highly for our ride) but from my experience the RH06's were excellent tires IMO.

Not only are the Kooks great, but they carry the heavy load rating for tires which is perfect for our vehicles. Prada may have that too, but I'm sure the RH06 carries it, + a W rating. You really cant go wrong w/ them

The Kooks have a load rating of 2469 and the Paradas have a load rating of 2403. I guess Im going with the Kooks. Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences

Here's the good thing about your choice. You can't go wrong with either tire! I've been running the Paradas for a while now. Have close to 40K miles on them and still have enough thread to last me throughout the summer. I'm currently tire shopping for 22" and will definitely get one of these. Maybe the Kooks just to be able to compare the two.

Never had the Paradas, but I got the Kooks...I love them, they been getting me through all the east coast storms we been having lately, with no problem. Also, to compare, check discounttires.com, they had the Kooks for the lowest price online when I bought mine a couple months ago. The issue is that they are based out of California (the shipping was pretty decent for me though), so it depends on how fast you want them.

Hi Cokoblazed,

Thank you for that website, with shipping for the kooks comes out to 555.52 to NY. Saved even more with this site. Thank you very much!

Among your choices, I would go with Kooks. I have done some research as well and looking for tires for a set of OZ that I pickup from here. Statics and number wise, Kooks tops. What sold me was Kook's tread pattern.

On with my search, I narrowed my tire choices down to Kooks RH06 and Nitto NT 420S. I have some very good experience with Nitto tires (not the same tire) before with smaller lighter car. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Can somebody call Hankook and pressure them into making 295/40/20's? Limited selection in that size and I want my tires back.

Thanks for the suggestion, The kooks definately seem like they are marginally better than the paradas.

On my second set of Hankooks and they are still great. I can take on and off ramps very quickly and they did pretty good at AutoX in the rain.

i heard overall the nittos look the widest on 265, this thread was just perfect i need new tires too my michellin latitude tour hp needs replacing, im prolly gna get 285s instead of 265
