Painting black moldings...

Pictures as requested. It came out GREAT. Sorry for the low-qual pics. all I had time to do before the sun went down was cell phone pics. Also, they forgot to paint the splash guards, so they are painting those now and i'll pick them up next week sometime.

i asked my mechanic about painting the trim. the bumper, sides. he quoted 600-650$. he said the pain will stick no worries. I am still deciding if i wanna get it done. But the price isnt bad at all.

Looks really good, what a difference, I personally think it would have looked really good with the "spoiler" painted as well but still looks great. I think white and orange FX's in particular are great candidates for this.

looks hot, congrats man, color match looks great to from these pics... waxing the whole fx will be so much nicer too without having to worry about the textured trim now...

gotta lower it now for sure though:tongue:

desiii, a mechanic that would do these for 600-650 will make a mess... good price? why, you think it should be even more to mess up an fx? not possible to do the right job or anything close to it even at that price... there, you'll get what you pay for no doubt...

11 days later, and my wallet $2K lighter... I'm declaring a success. It was painful to be without my FX for so long, but they at least hooked me up with a G37x loaner car :)

Thanks for all the comments all. And yes, Stellanti - MEET SOON!!!!

desii - the guy that quoted you is in for it once he realizes exactly how much work it really is. llike i said, 11 day job to get it done right.

yea i guess doesn't know how much work it is lol, he told me it ll take 4-5 days but it can be done no problem. but again i don't know if i wanna risk it, cuz i cant even let him do just the front bumper or something (to test the work) because its alll connected. btw turbocad he said the lifters in my car are making noise. his suggestions 1. wait till next oil change. 2. put some kinda treatment and see if the noise goes away. what do u think i should do? i wish ur shop was closer to toronto lol.

I have a nasty lifter tap too... there are no adjustments for our lifters, infiniti services this by providing more than several different lifter thicknesses, but it is a big job to do this too & the cam needs to be checked for wear as well as it could also be a contributing factor to the excessive lifter clearance.... $$$ there if not under warentee, I'm just gonna throw a new engine in mine

I don't do any mechanical work like that though in my shop anyway

also, getting someone to agree to a way too low price cause they don't realize what there getting into is almost always a mistake, when he does realize then he'll have 3 choices, 1, do it right anyway & just eat the loss(not likely) 2, try to get you to pay the difference from what it is to what he thought it was, or 3, try to do it as cheap as possible to meet the agreed price & cut his losses... all 3 of these sinarios suck though, you're better off going with someone that realizes what there getting into & is very cappable of doing it too...
