Painted my grill today

Many have used Krylon Fusion to do there grills and say it is the best. Only issue has been durability for some who didnt put enough coats. If you want a grillthat is bullet-proof use Plasti-Dip it is not very glossy at all but i drive 70-80 miles a day and it holds up perfectly!
 
getting my tail lights painted black soon by a body shop. do they usually do it glossy or flat? i am going to do my grill the same as the tail lights. flat black if the tails are, and glossy if not. most of you that painted tails, did you do it flat?
 
now im confused after reading this thread... not sure if i want to go black on my OEM chrome grille although a black grille looks awesome... anyone selling a black sport grille?

if i were you id trade your sport for a nonsport + cash, and then paint the nonsport. I believe the sport is harder to paint cause you have to strip an extra layer off of it.

another solution would be to wrap your grille. Its not as hard as it looks and with patience can be easily done.

yes, ive been toying this idea also... ivoroy did a really good job on the wrap... i noticed a lot of fxers are going black on the grille so now im thinking diamond graphite?

:confused.: man, reading this thread just reminds me that i need to paint my grille BAAAADDD. Those sport healights with a regular chromie grille dont look good....:confused.::confused.::confused.:
 
just a warning to those who use krylon fusion (plastic paint)

I did my grill less than a month ago. Thoroughly sanded down, no primer used, and only 3 coats of the paint. The grill has over a dozen chips and increasing fast... I drive about 500 miles a week. Moral of the story - dont skimp out on the coats. Use ALOT and throw on a clear for durability
 
anyone debating to pull the trigger on this should do it! it is super easy, slightly time consuming just because you have to wait a little between coats, but definitely worth it!
