Paddle Shifters 2010 FX 35

In my last post, i said it was useless. Then i read from a lot of people on this thread saying it is a lot of fun, so I decided to give it another try. When i tap the left paddle (shifting down), while still on Drive not DS mode, does it shift down two gears from where it was? That is what I am experiencing. Is this common?

If you tap the paddles while in drive the car will shift. After driving normally for a few seconds it will revert back to D. This is so you can hold a gear or force a downshift.

Usually tapping the paddle will cause one gear change. But downshifting two gears in your case could be normal. It really depends on the situation. Maybe you were slowing down and the transmission was already in the process of downshifting.

yeah, if a shift was about to happen then I could see it going down 2 gears but that should not be the normal response

Okay, i played around with it some more. I think the reason it goes down two gears is not because it was about to happen before i tap it. I think it is because i am on 7th gear, and one i tap the left paddle, it switches over to sports mode. under sports mode, the tranny doesn't go over 5th gear. So with one tap, it will down shift from 7 to 5. Thanks for the input.

I went to my dealer (around the corner from my house) to ask what the difference was between 09-10. He told me on the NAVI they took out the memory card slot and the paddle shifters. He showed me a car, no paddles

^^^That is really wierd they removed the paddle shifters. I wonder what the reason was.

No Idea, probably not a good response in Europe or something. They also made some minor cosmetic changes, they changed the Heated/Cooled seats controller to be more like the G37 and EX35, with the chrome bezel

Well, one reason might be because of stupid drivers like myself! I have a habit of sticking my entire hands through the steering wheel when i drive. So my forearm and my wrist is resting on the bottom portion of the steering wheel. When i turn, i move my entire arm. Once I was doing that and while i was turning, my hand got caught on one of the paddle shifters. I couldn't turn. Luckily, no cars around. I know this may seem really stupid, but hey, that is what i did, and i stopped doing it. haha. I hope this is entertaining and informative. =)

I just checked infiniti's website, i think you will need the sports package to get the paddle shifters. For the 09, I have the premium package, and it came with paddle shifters. I guess they are upping the price.

Such an answer came

The paddle shifter is included on the 2010 Infiniti FX50 Sport.

Paddle Shifter was awesome especially when i was speeding 200 km/hr driving out of town and the highway has a lot of turns so 2 hand at the steering playing with paddle is better..

I believe it's a cost-cutting thing. the 2010s lack the tonneau tover, cargo net, paddles, and sport pedals in the premium package. the CF slot is gone too.

^ no i beleive its more like upping the price of the fx.

i'm glad i have my 09, love the paddles and sport pedals.

what is tonneau tover?

i also didn't get cargo net with mine nor a first aid kit......

I think he means the cargo cover. I got the cargo net but never even got it out of the bag. I find they get in the way.

same here, glad to have my 09. love the Paddle Shifters.

Tonneau Cover, a removable cover for the cargo area.

mine come with cargo net and first-aid kit.

the '10 has USB slot (replaced the CF slot), I think USB is better

The 2010 FX drops the Paddle Shifters. If you look at the infinitiusa.com site, and search the photos of the FX, all the images are updated to show neither the Paddles or the Compact Flash drive slot on the center stack. Scratchshield paint is also gone on the 2010.

I guess you can order the shifters with a package, but not sure which one.

Glad I have the 09 as well as I like the Paddles.

I do wish we had the updated Navigation options though. I don't care about USB, but the bluetooth and GPS changes are nice.

any 10fx would be easy to install paddles like I said before in this thread, I'd bet that there all prewired for them just like the g's... just a matter of buying the parts bolting them on & plugging them in... WORSE case, if there not pre wired, even this wouldn't be so much of a problem as it wouldn't be extremely difficult to just wire them in.. the biggest problem for a car without paddles is the mounting of the paddles, but since the new fx parts are bolt on theres not much of a problem there anymore...
