Pad shims or no?

2010 FX35 RWD
Got Project Mu pads for my Akebonos and they don't come with the shims. Did not buy the hardware kit (shims and anti rattle spring clip) from Infiniti because it was over $90. Bought my spring clip, pins, cotter clips for $14 at autozone but not the shims and I cant find them seperately. Question is, do I really need to run the shims on the pads? Based on my experience, most aftermarket pads run pretty thick and it is difficult to even fit them in the caliper with shims... It looks like my Project Mu arent even made to work with shims(maybe why theyre not included?)... Let me know what yall think... Thanks guys

Also while I'm asking you guys... What color should I make my calipers?
1) keep them silver/ infiniti logo
2) Burnt copper / neochrome akebono decal
3) Midnight purple / neochrome akebono decal
4) Rose gold / neochrome akebono decal
 
Shim? If the pads comes with them, put them in. If not, I don't cry over them. Some swear that the shim reduces brake noise. I found them indifference. I think shims are really an after thought or remedy for their imperfect pads after they're manufactured.

Caliper color? If I want them stands out, I would go for burnt copper. Yeah, yeah.... I know this caliper color getting old, but still my favorite.

Screw the shims then lol. I think I'm gonna keep the Infiniti silver and then paint or coat them down the line... Thanks Andy!

Lmao I would've said the same thing to someone like a year ago. But I saw this on a G35 done by BaidPolish and I gotta say it looked pretty killer... These pics are on a maxima.
