OVERHEAT

SITUATION: Sitting in traffic today the temp needle starting rising to the H. I turned the heat on full blast because i heard that this can help release some of the heat out of the engine. Well the heat never got hot and it was almost cool (compared to the heat in MS right now). Finally got out of traffic and i expected the needle to start going down once i was on the highway since there would be more airflow but it actually started going higher. I was just about to pull off the road when it felt like the car jolted and the service light came on the dash. I quickly parked it and there was antifreeze everywhere towards the front of the radiator and even out the front grill. The front of the engine was completely dry though.

Did i just blow the engine in my car? Does the vehicle have a safe mode that it went into once it reached a certain temp? Im getting it towed today to a shop but wanted to see if anyone here had any thoughts.

Thanks,

There is a limp mode that the car goes into once it knows its overheating. My radiator blew in the middle of the freeway and the needle jumped to high fastr than Ive seen that gauge ever move. Pulled over and the car was in limp mode and wouldnt go over 1000-1500 rpm. Shut the car off and popped the hood. smoke everywhere and coolant leaking everywhere. Also the coolant probably hit the fans so it sprayed on the front of my engine. Not sure why yours would go out of the front grill. Get a pressure test done and go from there
