Ordering my '10 FX this weekend! (Got a question)

(the G37 coupe)

Awesome, so that means you're pretty much set on the FX now? The good news is the design will probably be around for a while. It took 6 years to go from 1st gen to 2nd.

Oh and the sport package has been around since the 2003 model came out! You're confusing dark chrome grill, head lights and tail lights with what the sport package really is...

My bad. so then they added the lights and grille in 2005 to the sport package. Gotcha.

just curious, but what are these new features (fixes) your talking about?

After getting familiar with my wife's 09 G37, I saw a few things that bothered me:
  • iPod connector won't charge iPhone 3G/3GS. The new iPod interface is over USB using your own USB cable, it charges any iPod device and means future devices will likely work as well
  • USB support, see above, this port also support USB thumb drives. No need to load up CF cards.
  • On her G37, DVD playback required a module to sit in her center console. DVD support is now built into the dash. You don't have to waste half of your center console with a drive.
  • With DVD support, MP3 DVD's should work (at least the dealership seems to think so)
  • Streaming Bluetooth support: iPhone or other bluetooth streaming device can stream music directly to the car, no cables needed. My wife has a Samsung P2 with Bluetooth streaming, he has one of those goofy headphone adapters to listen to music from it on her car.
Nothing particularly bad, just a few little gotchas that I feel they realized could be done better and did!

That's what the new model addresses. 2009's didn't support A2DP and couldn't charge 3G/3GS models. 2010's do both.

great features, but these can all be programmed in a later time. like how apple suddenly "activated"A2DP in one of its firmware updates.

the USB charger though is a bitch and does require an adapter.

any other changers to the 10? is it true paddle shifters are no long standard as mention in another thread? did they fix the taillight in the 10 so the whole thing lights up instead of just the outer side and having fake light housing on the trunk?

You can always be hopeful that Infiniti rolls out A2DP support for previous years models but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath.

Other features for 2010... I can't really remember everything. I'll be talking to Jeremy at Sewell tomorrow and see what else he can remember. I do know that the Nav is upgraded with some extra eye candy, XM weather and Zagat restaraunt reviews. I'll be sure to ask him about the paddle shifters as well.

Oh, and what a disappointment, I spent all weekend ripping out a flower bed and couldn't get up to the dealership. I have to wait until next saturday.

read on the other fx forum that 2010 also wont come with self healing paint. could be a good thing or a bad thing. I like how it self heals swirls, but I also HATE how easy it gets chipped by rocks

That's a bummer, I was looking forward to a swirl-free black car. My wife's G37 already has a few big nicks from rocks all the way down to the primer but no swirls.

I wouldn't say its swirl free, its better on swirls but it wont heal the same spot twice. and the rock chips are painful. I don't know, rock chips stick out no matter the lighting, swirl only really show up in bright bright light. Swirl is also easier for an amatuer to correct, I try to touch up paint a chip and its the same color as the car but in a different shade and I doubt it has the protection as a properly painting section with no chips. In a way I'm glad my bumper was repainted with non self heal paint or else it will be full of chips. my hood is starting to get some too now :(

The self heal paint isn't the cause of the chipping. Infiniti paints are noted for chipping easily for years. That is why I have got clear bra on the front of the hood and fenders and a full bumper wrap on my last 3 Infinitis.

Well, the order is in! Sort of. I ended up having one shipped to Sewell Dallas from Houston that matched what I wanted for the most part.

Specs:
  • 2010 FX35 RWD
  • Platinum Graphite
  • Nav, Premium, Deluxe, Tech packages
  • Impact Sensor Alarm
Once Sewell Dallas receives it, the following will be added
  • Illuminated Sill Plates
  • Cargo Organizer
  • Powdercoated rims (I have yet to choose a color, but one suggestion is a dark chrome(similar to this)
Why? Everything fell into place and I just couldn't pass on this:
  • We have a referral card from when we bought my wife's G37. She can refer me and we'll get a total of $625 as long as we bought by November 30tha
  • Grubbs has $5k off any FX35, Sewell matched that, but the offer expires November 30th
  • Sewell had ONE FX35 with the Tech package. It had all the features I wanted but in a different color. If I sacrificed Black, I'd get $5,600 right off the top!
  • Infiniti isn't offering any spectactular financing deals on the 2010's yet, but Bank of America 4.3% for top-tier credit. Assuming Infiniti brings back the 2.9% rate by January, sacrificing the $5000 discount still means a higher monthly payment.
So they got me! Shipping from Houston to Dallas was going to be around $450 but I got them to pay for it. Let's just hope I get top dollar for my Camaro!

By the way, anyone have suggestions for rim color?

Congrats on your new order MC.
Sounds the same as my 09 but I have AWD. I love the colour.

I got it! It's mine!

Just closed the deal today. The only change was to opt for the 100k/7yr extended warranty. The dealer sent off the wheels to be powder coated in a dark chrome and should have them ready in about two weeks. For the time being, I'm rolling on loaner wheels.

I'll post more a bit later (and let this thread finally die off) but they gave me all sorts of dealer material regarding what the technology package does and doesn't do. I figure it would be useful for some.
