Oiled air filters can screw up the MAF.

Heard of it, when filter is recharged with too much oil. Why you bringing up?

Just wondering. Happened to me once on my old Volvo XC. Brand new K&N out of the package made the car go haywire. Reinstalled the paper filter and it went back to normal.

GTO is correct. It can foul the MAF if the filter is recharged and too much oil is applied.

A semi-related story: When I had my 2011 EX35 I had a CEL and the code would point towards the MAF/Throttle bodies. They replaced the MAF's for me under warranty and said that was my issue. (At that time I had K&N Filters in the vehicle for over a year). A month later the CEL came back for the same code. Did some research and found it to be a common issue and the throttle bodies were bad. Brought it back in, told them everything and they took a look at it. They told me the K&N filters were the reason for the code. They cleared it, and sent me on my way. I wasn't happy, told them it's the Throttle bodies, as it was a common issue but they didn't believe me. They tried to sell me some OEM filters, but I refused, told them I had the original ones and I will put back in, and that I'll be back when the light comes back on. Another week or so later the light came back on and back the dealer I went. They cleared the code, said they checked all the wiring, found a bad ground in the harness and the issue is resolved. I wasn't happy with that answer, but figured if they found something its already better than blaming me for the filters. Another few weeks later the CEL came back on for the same code. Back to the dealer for the 4th time. This time I went right to the dealer manager, sat down with him, and told him everything. He was not happy to hear about this, and went with me to service. They told me they will escalate this with Infiniti USA and get some assistance. A few days later they let me know my car was done, and they replaced both of my throttle bodies. (Under Warranty). I also received a year or 2 of free oil changes and tire rotations and some other stuff for the inconvenience with the whole situation.

Maybe just too much oil from factory. I've never had a problem with new otb, nor when I recharge, which I've done several times on FX & others.
Since I'm currently testing stock box setup , was thinking to get a washable. & No risk to MAF.

AEM looks like the dry filter Amsoil used to sell. Put one in the Volvo and it worked great for years. In fact, I totally forgot about it then six years later couldn't figure out why I was having idling problems. :D

Good to hear. I'm gonna try it out.
Saw a cleaning video on Utube and it looks easy. Filter also looks well made.

Amsoil sells WIX paper now. wtf
