On the maintenance setting for the display screen, does it need to be resetted every oil change? or could i do it manually of have to bring it back to the infiniti dealer?
Manually needs to be reset...most dealers do not do this for you unless you ask them.

maintenance screen...keep pushing trip till the Engine oil...tire pressure...tire rotation.. screen comes on.
highlight engine oil and press enter
press reset.
also you can set reminder and what mileage reminder comes on.
ready to go.
Do all the same for tire pressure.

I was under the assumption that we're not supposed to reset it and only the dealer was to reset that after the oil change?

My dad told me that the dealer had to do it also, i don't really wanna play around with it, i might mess something up

on my 04 you just display the distance since the last oil change, then hold down the reset. after about 5 seconds it'll reset to zero
You can't mess anything up...basically the same as resetting the trip 1 and 2.

But what if i've already driven many miles after the oil change? wouldn't it not be acurate?
How often do you change the oil?
check the receipt from your last oil change, it should have your mileage listed. Then check how many miles you have currently on your FX...subtract A from B and set the oil trip as such....but That's being really accurate.... receipt says 7k miles your car now has 9k miles...if you want to change your oil every 3500....set your trip at 1500 miles.(7k - 9k = 2k miles traveled since oil change. 3500 - 2k = 1500 to put onto computer)
Or just easier for you....wait till next time you get your oil changed..make sure you ask the dealer to reset it.

I reset mine every time I do an oil change.Also You can change the mileage service interval as well. I set mine for 5000 mi since I'm running synthetic oil.
I do the same everytime I do a change, but I have mine set to 6k miles for full synthetic.

i have mine set at 3,000 with fully synthetic or 3months cuz i hardly drive myn's so 3months come first lol
