oil drain plug

I believe any good synthetic oil, Penn Plat/ ultra, mobile 1, amsoil, rp, new castrol, can go upto 7000 miles in this engine. Anything more, I think you're pushing it. Remember we only have 5 qrts, some euro cars have 10-12 quarts allowing them to go that longer service intervals.

Cheaper synthetic I wouldn't push past 5000. But one thing that is easily overlooked, you absolutely need a good oil filter to run these higher intervals on the engine.

Very high quality filters that can go 10,000 mile interchange:
Bosch D+ (15,000 mile)
K&N
Royal Purple
Amsoil EAO line
Mobil 1
Puralator Pure One

very interesting. i wonder why couple of mechanics that i went too, said switching will do harm..

Synthetic, especially high mileage syns condition the engine seals. Switching back and forth from dino to syn on a high mileage engine MAY result in leaks. There's really no evidence pointing to this and is a widely accepted rumour. Going onto Mobil 1 or Pennzoil, they specifically say there is no problem switching back to dino after a syn oil change.

Mainly so, Some motors do run louder at startup with X oil and some were more prone to oil burning.

I could tell you that about 85% of the people who came in at VW for oil consumption ran mobil 1 syn. When they swapped over to another, it either slowed it down to an acceptable level or was gone completely. But the 1.8T were prone to sludging and etc. My brother's maxima with a VQ30 ( i was the owner back then) had a louder startup with the 5w40 syntec but my g35 is just normal.

I def agree with you, i came from a 1.8T Audi A4 and always used mobile1 full synth. It did consume about a quart. in betwen oil changes, not sure if the turbo was causing the oil burn of the mobil 1 was just shitty oil.

Thanks for the info, next i see them ill ask them why they think this way

not really lol i do my oil changes on my own, this guys are running mercedes and bmw engine shop, rebuilds mostly and installation, they got 30+ years experience and usually when i take my 20min break i see them. I was skeptic about it too at first about the oil stuff but then they got so much experience and all around mechanic shops , send cars to these guys if they cant find problem or fix. So ideally anything to engine related i would believe them.

since is my first oil change and im coming from super low audi a4,i wanna know if you guys lift the car for the oil change or it is possible to fit underneath without lifting?

If you're not lowered, you can definitely do the oil change without lifting the front end. It makes it a little easier but not necessary.

i would lift with stock suspension, when it comes time to put on the plastic underbelly, its a hassle all those bolts and stuff. You wont have room for comfort

Not sure if this goes with this topic, But does any one know if you can get a quick drain valve for the oil pan? My G35 coupe has one, and you just move a little lever and the oil drains out - no bolt to remove or washer to replace... makes the oil change that much faster with no tools required.
