I got an FX45. Had it over a year now. Has 78000 miles now. It's been using oil ever since I bought it. Just figured out I'm using about 1/4 of a quart per 1000 miles. Is this normal?

I've got a 2006 FX45 with 172,000 and a 2009 FX50S with 105,000. Both use 1 quart every 5,000 miles, which in all the years I've owned 20+ cars of all kinds from 4-cylinders to 8 cylinders is the best. Most any car at that 4,000-5,000 mileage will need oil--and at that point an oil change is in order anyway. So you seem to be in a quite normal range.

Yeah I am at about a quart every 500-1000 miles and have been told that is still within a "normal" range... always seemed high to me, but nothing breaking and I just keep putting it in...

My advice is just get used to it... :)

I believe that when Nissan recalled some of the VQ35 revup engines it was when the motor was burning 1 L per 1,000 miles. For that one they were replacing the block.
