Oil Change

So I am just wondering what you guys are doing with your routine oil changes.
When I had my g37 I got every oil change/service done at the dealership. But the more I think about it the more I realize what a waste of money spending $100.00 on a oil change is.

What do you guys do and which oil do you use? I was thinking about making the switch to mobile 1 when I do my first oil change
 
I'm switching to Amsoil Synthetic once I get around 10,000 miles on my FX. I will change over at my 3rd oil change. I prefer to get it broken in on regular Dino oil before the switch to synthetic.
 
my dealership (Metro Infiniti) allows me to bring my own oil (synthetic)/ filter and they would only charge me for the labor :tup:
 
Lots of prior threads on questions regarding oil change over to synthetic. Please read those for more insight on your question. But in short synthetic is the way to go dealer or not.
 
Hi guys! I have a question. My wife had the car on while she was cleaning it. She had my son on the passenger side. From what my wife told me, he was playing with the buttons and some how rest the oil and filetr miles on the console.

Do you guys now how to reset them back?

@ New Guy; sorry, as far as i know i dont think you can reset the oil and filter miles on the console :(. Perhaps it may be time to frequently check the dip stick now until the next change
 
Once they have been reset you cannot revert them back. Its not critical on the exact mileage for the oil or filter change so I would not worry about it. Just guesstimate when you did the last change and follow accordingly.

How often do you guy do the oil change? I use mobile 1 full synthetic/with k&n oil filter and change it every 3750 miles. Can I go every 5000 mile?
 
depending on your driving habits, sure. how does the synthetic oil look? this is more important than 3k or 4k miles you've driven since your last oil change. I use mobil 1 0W30 fully synthetic and i change mine at 4k miles and the oil is pretty dirty by then. I drive my car at least 15 miles 7 days a week and check the oil weekly. it's hard to read the dipstick but at least you can see how good your oil looks.
 
My ride has 30,000km. Been using regular conventional 5W30. I was thinking about switching over to Mobile 1 full synthetic 5W30. Was at my dealership the other day and was told to switch over to "Infiniti Ester oil". So my question is Ester oil or Mobile 1 synthetic??
