Oil change

After six months of looking I just purchased a 2005 Copper/brick FX35.

With 30K on the speedometer I want to change the transmission oil.

Should I go to the dealer and purchase the parts?

How difficult a job is it?

Thanks

HOW TO: Changing Transmission Fluid - InfinitiScene.com

There's actually a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission. I don't have any picture of it but you'll see it there. The bolt is flat.

But it's probably easier to do it from the radiator hose. Your choice.

I just had my 60K service done at the dealer it's the same as the 30K and it was 500.00 before I had them use synthetic eng oil and upgrade the cabin filter to the carbon type then the total was 600.00. That did not include the tranfer case and the front and rear diff' service. I will be doing these myself. The trans service is the main reason I went with the dealer service.

Don't waste your money. When I bought mine with 35K on it, I called and asked Infiniti and 2 other import shops, they stated no need because dealership recom'd is 60k.

I have been told that it is a very good idea to service the trans every 30K as the repairs can be very expensive and if you have a warranty it could be that they won't cover it you if the recomended services are not done.:nerd:

I just dropped off my FX to Cheryl this morning for a 30k.

I had her omit several things since I did them or will have it done cheaper.
-cabin filter (I did)
-air filter (I have K&N . do myself)
-oil change (cheaper at other places, they wanted almost $80 for full syn)

and waited on the brake line flush.

getting trans service
rotate tires and balance
full inspection
cost
$210

So basically, all your really getting done is trans & rear diff. service, although I think the diff. is too early.

& it's costing how much?

the trans service is pretty cheap $50.

But when I went to pickup my FX tonight at Metro Infiniti, I notices some scratches on the passenger side. I showed the last service guy there and he was trying to blame rocks on the road. O told him stop talking cause you not sure.
I took some pics and also talked with the cashier and she told me to call the service manager on Monday. I left a vm for Cheryl (my service person).

I guess I can try to get it off with some wax first. My guess is that when they park your car after service, they put it near all the loaners. Very easy for someone returning/picking up a car to open a door and causing damage. Also Im not going to take the free car wash from them any more, the wash is not very good.
