Hey everyone.

I'd like to get a thread going where members (new and old) can view M's with different brake setups to get an idea of how some of the brake products out there perform, etc.

Please use this format:

Car Model: M35, M35x, M45, etc.?
Brake Pads:
Rotors:
Amount of Brake Dust (1-10):
Noise (1-10):
General Review on Performance:
Pictures:

GO!

Man i think I'm up for new brake pads...wish there was some good reviews posted by people who have made upgrades from OEM...*hint..hint*

I haven't upgraded the brakes on my M yet, but I plan on getting them from R1 Concepts. I had a set of their drilled/slotted rotors and semi-metallic pads on my '06 Altima SER and was VERY impressed with the shortened stopping distance, less fade, and most of all NO WARPING, something the SER and a lot of Nissans are known for.

Hello! I am currently doing to Akebono factory sport brake upgrade on my 2006 M45 sport. It has been a nightmare getting all of the correct parts! Many of the writeups on the FX forums and other sites have included procedures to purchase some factory/some aftermarket parts. I wanted everything on my car to be from the factory, and I have stuck to my guns. I should do a complete write-up for those looking to upgrade in the future. Most of the parts for the upgrade are the same price as the stock parts. I have almost everything, I'm only waiting for the brake lines to come in tomorrow. I'll keep you posted!

Car Model: 2006 M45 Sport
Brake Pads: Factory pads for the Akebono sport brakes
Rotors: Factory rotors for the Akebono sport brakes
Amount of Brake Dust (1-10): 9 (I'm assuming 10 is the best here)
Noise (1-10): 10, not one single squeak, rattle, groan, nothing
General Review on Performance: Excellent performance! Waay better than stock setup. That must be why they put it on the new M series.

for the more budget-minded (those Akebonos and brackets run $1500 new), there are ways to fit the 350 Zed Brembos front and rear.

but if you're ballin', you can switch over the earlier Ms to S13/S14 front lower arms and knuckles and radius rods and run whatever brakes you can find!

I put on the rear Akebono setup to my car (06 M45 Sport) but I'm getting some issues with the Electronic Brake Distribution module. The braking performance is pretty outstanding from a factory brake package, though. Around town, the fronts were the most noticeable, but coming down from freeway speeds of 70-80mph, having all four corners clamping down with the BBK's made an amazing difference! I used to warp rotors about every 2-3 months before, but with this setup, I'm going on 5 months and everything is trailing smooth as glass. When I figure out the issue, I will be posting the complete HOW-TO on the site. But with a baby coming very soon and taking 5 college courses and working part time, it's been tough to make time. Good luck everyone!
