2003 FX35
I just bought a 2003 FX35 -- it came without the engine cover (collector cover over engine). What should I expect to pay for one? Should I hold off to find a good used one? I see a brand new one on eBAY for $200 (and I have $30 in eBAY bucks I need to spend within 2 days). Obviously I can spend it on something else if needed :)

Thanks. Just figure someone in the know can tell me what I should be looking for and what price is good.

They're not uncommon to find used. The savings for another one will be greater than $30.
Go to the weird other items section on ebay, filter to $30 max, and get something really wild!

I have one I can sell but shipping to utah would kill the deal.

People sell take them off all the time, cause of aftermarket plenums or they polish their plenum (g35 owners).

You should be able to find one no problem.

Serves no purpose in my eyes. Just looks cool.

And therefore serves it's purpose :) I guess you have to have a bunch of grommets and stuff to mount these, too???

Should've picked it up when I was there two months ago :P

There shouldn't be anything too fancy as far as other hardware. I have the 45 and the 35 can't be much different. On 45's, there are 4 attaching points by either bolt or nut. (The front 2 and different but similarly simple from the back 2) Look for threaded holes or studs. Cover should just sit over top and screw down. Common hardware would work fine if you don't have original nuts and bolts.

K, thanks. I ended up getting a cover on ebay...it's very clean. A bit pricey, but not horrible. Watched for about a week and it was the best option I say in that time.

So, from what I'm seeing, the engine cover should have these grommets to be installed with -- Brand new they're asking $98.30 for the cover which would include (I would assume) four of each grommet? Or do you just use two in a particular spot as a spacer?

What color is yours? Black with silver emblem? How much? I might still want it...

Surely someone knows the answer to this :) I called INIFINIPARTSUSA and got a bit of an 'uh maybe' answer:

The engine cover should have grommet(s) and retainer(s) AND the 10 MM bolts.

Brand new for a cover they're asking $98.30 which says INCLUDES the grommets and retainers -- do I need four retainers and four washers? Or just one of each? If it's four each, it costs as much to buy those as the whole new cover!!! So, just need to find out. Thanks.

i highly doubt you will need it. get get some high temp material to make your own gromet if your that worried. i dont remmeber there being washers unless its stuck to the cover .

Yep, 10mm socket....M6 thread.

sweet. thanks on my list to buy lol.

I bought the black cover with the silver/gray middle to change out the all black one and all I needed to reuse was the old bolts.
